Book Review of Life By Keith Richards Life by Keith Richards is an autobiography about the life of the famous rock and roll guitarist. It goes over his whole life, from his childhood in Dartmoor, to meeting Mick Jagger in art college, starting up as a blues band, releasing their first album, his various drug addictions, and much more during his 50 years (and counting) in the Rolling Stones. The book itself starts with a scenario of when he was about twenty years old, and it was the first time the Rolling Stones toured the U.S.A. He had been stopped by the police for suspected drug use, and what the police didn't find (for which he could have been jailed for life) was all the other drugs that had been hidden in the car, under seats, in the glove compartment, and generally hidden around the car. He starts off with this to explain how incredibly lucky he was during his life, with the police and also with his life. He says himself that "I should have been dead at least 50 times now". In the rest of the book you get to find out why, as Richards writes with very in-depth detail about his life, missing out no details. Keith Richards writes in an informal style, with some swear words and some slang. However he does write with lots of detail about the events that happen, and often writes about his emotions. The following quote is from when Keith moved to France and first saw the "chateau" that he had bought. When I first saw Nellcote, I thought that I could probably handle a spell of exile. It was the most amazing house, right at the base of Cap Ferrat, looking out over Villefranche Bay. It had been built around the 1890s by an English banker, with a large garden, a little overgrown, behind great iron gates. The proportions were superb.
