The criminal activity of both family doctors lasted for many years – allegedly Harold Shipman was killing his patients over the period of 23 years; Peter Green was abusing his patients for over 17 years. Both men were arrested, convicted and sentenced for prison detention. Both cases sparked a wide public debate about the national Health System and the way it is regulated. Both cases show very clearly how difficult it was in NHS to spot and take action in cases such as this, because of the lack of proper systems for monitoring and regulating medical practice. Both cases have influenced changes into NHS regulations; Dr Shipman case introduced new measures, such as the rules surrounding the issuing of death certificates, have been implemented.

He was recently released of prison after doing two years for beating a woman that ironically lived in the same apartment building as the victim. He also was in jail for the rape of a four-teen year old girl that lived one-hundred feet from her as well. Omar Ballard is also friends with Tamika, the Neighbor of Michelle Moore-bosko who wrongly accused first suspect Daniel Williams.
His tactic was always similar, inviting his victims to watch pornography or take some pictures at his home. Then he drugged and strangled them to have sex with the corpse and then masturbate on them. After taking pictures of the body and every stage of the dismemberment he used to use acid to break up the meat and bones but used to keep the head and genitals as a trophy. Another feature of him was that he used to eat part of his victims; this gave him the sensation that they formed part of him. Ridgway growing up around this society developed him into a man who undervalued women and also felt to gain power after living a very broken-childhood, which is why violence upon women was his escape to accomplish a sense of authority. During the time in-between 1982 to 2001, Ridgway had only been arrested twice, with many killings of other women that had gone unheard of. In April, 2001 convicted-offender database got what was called a “cold-hit” because the perpetrator of the crime had been convicted of shooting at a residence that was occupied, which in North Carolina requires that the persons DNA be placed in the criminal database. He was brought in for questioning, served with a search warrant and a blood sample taken. The blood was analyzed and a match was made to the DNA of the perpetrator the authorities had named the “Night Stalker”. His mother spent time in jail, she was an excessive drinker, and she often abandoned a young Manson to go out. He was soon placed in public institutions, and beginning at the age of nine, he was caught up in many petty crimes and sent to boys reformatories. Manson was said to do good work at school, but only when he could see there was something in it for him. He showed many sociopathic tendancies as a young child an teen, and a psychiatrist said he would one day become a "fairly slick institutionalised youth". Later in his life, Manson was found to have raped another boy whilst holding a razor to his throat, he spent a good part of the 50s and 60s in prisons.
