Dear Mr. Gates:
We here at Nemo’s Technical Underwriting association have much respect for the work that you guys are doing down at Microsoft. We love the opportunity to work with Dell and Microsoft on this venture. We are currently putting together a user manual for Dell Computers that will tell the end user how to operate the computer successfully. In this manual it is critical that we use screenshots from your software since it is currently on all of their PC’s. We find that it is imperative to the manual that we use pictures of your products to help the user get started using our products with a greater ease.
We know that it may be absurd to have to ask permission to use screenshots since our products are intertwined and there is already an agreement among both parties. However, we would like to ask permission so that we will not be held libel. We would presume that certain screens like desktop, control panel, driver setup, etc. are critical and an essential part of the user manual for all Windows operating PC’s. We would like to use several screenshots from Windows 7 in our user manuals for Dell laptops and desktops. Furthermore we would also use screenshots in good taste and with a great deal of detail and illustrious color.
It is our company’s policy to ask for written permission for every screenshot used. However, in this case we will be using your screenshots extensively since they are the operating system for all Dell computers. If you would like to see the screenshots that we plan to use, we would love to oblige you with these pictures. I must remind you that our product is time sensitive and we will need a letter of approval as soon as possible. If you would like to ask further questions or obtain pictures of the screenshots we intend to use please feel free to call us at 979-555-6136, or...
