Introductory awareness of autistic spectrum conditions 1.1 Describe the types of difficulty that individuals with an autistic spectrum condition may have with language and other ways of communicating with others. The different types of Autism in the autistic spectrum are: * social interactions (ie people with autism would often find it difficult to understand others' mental states and emotions, and respond accordingly) * verbal and non-verbal communication The sort of problems that adults with Autism may have include one or more of the following: * Not being able to express themselves well. * Not being able to understand gestures, facial expressions, or tone of voice. * Saying odd things. For example, repeating your words back to you, time and time again.
Print. This article is about how people back in the mid 1900’s viewed autism. In 1965 autism was called “childhood schizophrenia”. Years later it was seen as kids that were emotionally withdrawn due to abuse and bad living conditions. This article also explains the ways and methods that were thought to treat autism.
ASD is a form of diability whereby there is need of intensive, sustained special education programs and behavior therapy early in life can help children acquire self-care, social, and job skills. 5. Causes are unclear but a vast majority of researchers point toward the environment which pose potential for various combinations of factors causing autism. Autism was first described as a unique condition in 1943, believed that it was caused by cold, unloving mothers. There are multiple genetic components or disorders such as Fragile X, Tuberous Sclerosis, and Angelman's Syndrome that may cause autism on their own or possibly when combined with exposure to, like I said, undetermined environmental factors such as infectious ones (maternal rubella or cytomegalovirus) or chemical ones (thalidomide or valproate) during
Kozol addresses his readers so that they may spread awareness on illiteracy and eventually resolve the problem. Questions: 1. These explanations confuse the effects of illiteracy with the causes by saying that laziness is the cause of illiteracy, when in reality illiteracy is the cause of innovativeness, that an illiterate has to adopt, that is seen as laziness and stupidity. Kozol refutes these stereotypes with his examples of just how much illiteracy affects a person showing that they become almost immobilized and isolated by it. In his opinion the nation and it's leaders are at fault for not addressing this problem.
(Freud) Aggressive & violent behaviours? (Observational learning: Abusers - foster parents) From the painful & traumatic childhood Will had, perhaps that was his way of:- getting a sense of power (from the powerless situation he was in with the abuses he had) getting attention( from the neglect & lack of attention he had with foster parents?) indirect, non-verbal “call-out” that he had been tremendously hurt & abused low self efficacy? This quote shows that the bullies are more concentrated on bullying their victims rather than their school work. This quote also shows that bullies are not very concentrated in school and will probably fail in school and not get a good career. Another example that shows that students are beginning not to care about school is, “Many of the victims are disengaged in school” (Wolpert 1). This evidence is important because the victims are scared of bullies and are really not concentrating in school like before they began to be bullied. Multiple victims who are hurt from being bullied are starting to fail in school.
Behavioral theory states that people act aggressively because, as children, they modeled their behavior after the violent acts of adults. When they get older, they become antisocial. As a child when they were awarded for doing things, they thought it was good and it became habitual and the behavior that is punished becomes extinguished. A sub branch of behavioral theory is social learning theory. They act violently when people pick on them, threaten them, or they are exposed to direct pain.
Four theoretical models of abuse Psychological model of abuse: within a family if the family dysfunction becomes poor of distorted the family will cease to function as a unit (Squire, 2007, page 179). Also according to (class work) the psychological model “links abuse to the abusers previous experience”. We feel that these experiences are: lack of bonding and attachment with their primary caregiver, their upbringing, lack of positive role models and the parents/ carers ability to understand care. Sociological model of abuse: According to (Squire, 2007, page 179) the sociological model ‘looks at changing patterns within society and believes that unemployment, poverty, poor housing and health deprivation are reasons for people abusing
(Zimbardo Ted Talks) This experiment has shown how average students can be driven to abuse their fellow citizens when they are in roles of superiority. The presence of the power given by the roles allows the individual to abuse the power, creating an influenced environment. The same effect was also apparent in a segregation experiment done by an elementary teacher. During the experiment children with blue eyes were labeled as superior to those with brown eyes. Over the course of the experiment the blue eyed students began to exclude and taunt their classmates by calling them names such as “brown eyes”.
