As Mayor, my mission will be to enable every New Yorker throughout all five boroughs a fair chance of the American Dream through life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. From my early days as a young City Hall Staffer, to serving on my local school board, and currently as New York City’s Public Advocate, I’ve spent my career fighting to help each end every New Yorker achieve this dream. Before this dream can become a reality, we need to ensure public safety throughout New York. My plan is to commit to protecting our streets and our communities in every neighborhood. New York City is the safest big city in the country, due to constant technological breakthroughs and dedicated policing. In spite of that there is still room for much improvement, as some of the overly aggressive law enforcement tactics suffocate NYPD relationship status with communities across our city. My vision for public safety is to retain our advances in crime reduction by utilizing technology and clever anti- crime routines. Just the same, we need to mend divisions between police and communities with crucial, much needed reforms. Which is why throughout my public service career, I have fought to build a robust safety infrastructure and advocate for positive police- community relationships. To do this will require the expansion of successful and targeted policing strategies while investing in technologies that support intelligence- driven responses to crime. I aim to reduce the borough deficiency in camera coverage by expanding camera use in all five boroughs. I will push for the Safe Streets Security Camera Act to create a private security camera registry, which will aid law enforcement officials in solving crime. In like manner, the issue of racial profiling featuring Stop and Frisk and marijuana violation needs to be tackled. As Public Advocate I have
