Betraying Friend Or Country

In the passage by E. M. Forster, he exclaims that he would choose betraying his country rather than his friend. I agree with what Forster is saying. Friendship is a close bond that some people don't get to experience. Some people selfishly choose other things that they think are more important, and in this case their country. A friend is someone that will have your back no matter what. A friend is the person you tell all your secrets to because you trust them. You have true emotions and feeling towards each other. Your country has no sympathy or feelings towards you individually. They are powerful and want the truth and money. They will use your "secrets" or what you tell them against you or someone else. If one of your friends were doing something illegal, would you go and tell the police so that they get in trouble? I wouldn’t. I value the friendships I have and I would want one of my friends to do the same for me. There have been times when choosing the government over people has been a great disadvantage to society. For example when Hitler made the Nazi soldiers invade on their neighbors and have them killed. They chose their leader over their friends and killed millions. Having support and trust is something you receive and give to your friends. You can’t send that to your country. The country cares about itself and everyone as a whole. From you siding with the government it doesn’t greater the relationships you have and it wont will only benefit the country somewhat if anything. Your good friends will always be there for you but your country may not
