Many new forms of entertainment have been invented with the use of modern information technologies. With the rapid growth of information technologies, an extensive array of video games has been introduced to us. Video games have become a very popular past time for people of all ages. Video games have often been described as “ a waste of time” or even “only for children”. However, in recent years video games have shown much promise in being beneficial to our development as successful individuals. To be able to play video games well, one would need skills that are involved with everyday tasks and situations. Video games help by allowing us to practice those skills in an environment that essentially has countless outcomes and difficulties. Video games are beneficial to us because they teach us how to solve problems efficiently, how to collaborate effectively, and how to view failure positively. All types and genres of video games have an objective for the player to complete. Whether it is playing a peaceful game of chess or playing an intense game of shooting zombies, there is always some sort of objective for the player to complete. When players have to overcome obstacles in their quest to complete their objective, they have to exercise their ability to make important decisions.
