It was early Sunday morning, when I arrived at my favorite paradise: The Motocross track. As I began to gear up, I was pondering the goals I would exceed. I slid my helmet over my head, buckled it, knowing that I had just committed to exceeding my expectations and accomplishing my goals. The feeling grew stronger as I swung my leg over the bike. Lance Armstrong is known as a competitive bike racer who has accomplished a great deal throughout his life including seven tour de France victories and surviving deadly cancer. His life includes many ups and downs and is full of successes and failures. Even though Lance Armstrong battled with cancer he was still able to fight and accomplish his goals. Lance Armstrong’s call to adventure started when Lance received his first bike realizing that biking was going to be something that would ultimately change his life. He said, “When the other kids were swimming at the country club, I was biking for miles after school, because it was my chance” (Armstrong 26).

Since 1953 a lot has changed in how we climb mountains and this makes it a lot easier and safer, things such as equipment can make all the difference, especially with weight, as almost all equipment in 1953 was extremely heavy and bulky, but now we have all light weight equipment such as snow suits and light weight axes and so on, all of this has improved the likely hood of actually reaching the peak.
