Marlin is very nervous and scared to go out in the great blue sea. He also has a fear that he may never see his only son Nemo again. Marlin feels he may have loss the only thing he had left of him. Marlins style of life is that he is very cautious of his surrounding because he doesn't want to be put in the situation he was in when his wife and children were eaten by the shark. Marlin may have been a whole different clownfish with a different personality if the event of his wife and children being attacked was handled in a different fashion.
Eidson influenced my first impressions of Nat Swanson by persuading me to believe he was a bad and lonely character from the start of the novel. Eidson clearly demonstrates Nat Swanson as a lone ranger, a one-man gang and a loner in this story. At first Eidson reflects on Nat Swanson’s history to reflect his characteristics. Nat Swanson lost his whole family in an incident involving Comanche’s at a young age and was passed around foster homes. He felt abandoned because he also knew himself that he was only taken in by family for his work ethics but not for the caring and love of a child.
He finds it challenging to have lost his father as the motif of “the boat” is used to emphasize the loss of his father. He feels that “no boat rides restlessly in the waters” generating an idea that you won’t be happy throughout your whole life because he has lost his happiness since the day he lost his dad. His memories of his father are remembered as “gigantic” and “being elevated”. But to him they are “only shadows and echoes” of his past. The “earliest recollection” of the father is filled with imagery such as “stubble of his cheek” and “ sound …boots galumphing along”.
Simon helps the others in all sorts of different ways. When the ship passes by the island Ralph is angry and hopeless: “Simon put out his hand, timidly, to touch Ralph…” (67). Simon is trying to comfort Ralph in his time of need. Ralph is afraid that they’ll never get off the island and that the ship was their only chance Simon know that they’ll get off and even says it when Ralph is longing for home: “You’ll get back to where you come from” (111). This quote tells how Simon knows Ralph will get back and is trying to give Ralph some hope in this dark time of depression.
Forgiveness is something that must come within a person; if one cannot forgive themselves for their wrong doings it is harder to accept what has been done for and to move on. This being, ‘The Kite Runner’, by Khaled Hussani shows a great amount of forgiveness. The main character in the book named Amir, shows a high emotion of jealousy for his brother Hassan throughout their childhood which leads him into guilt amongst himself. Amir was an insecure child which left him in the regret of witnessing Hassan through bad situations. This resulted in him not being able to defend Hassan through his struggles.
During the course of the novel of ‘Deadly Unna?’ the readers are exposed to the negativity between the father and his son. This affects Blacky in way that his self-esteem is almost non-existent, and the negativity is prominent throughout the novel. Examples of the neglect shown by his father are that of the time when Bob refers to Blacky as a ‘gutless wonder’, and the journey we take through the story of Blacky’s deteriorating respect for him. The ‘gutless wonder’ incident was a influential part of the novel, as Blacky realises that his Dad isn’t one to take advice of someone he feels is inferior than him, thus saying, ‘My own son, a gutless wonder. A gutless fucking wonder!’ When Blacky explains to his father about the storm, Bob insults him rather than swallow his pride and takes his son’s advice on board.
Jack and his boys are in charge of the fire and the one time a ship goes by they didn’t take care of the fire and the ship doesn’t see them, when they could have been rescued. That is one of the first time you see Ralph get really mad. He is especially mad because the boys were out hunting instead trying to get rescued. This is one of the times were the two boys values and thoughts on what is important causes tension and fighting between
Chris was always critical of his parents and their lifestyle, but that criticism turned to outright anger when Chris learned that his father had lived a double life with another family for a time. Chris saw his father as a liar and a hypocrite and he was never able to forgive his father. A recurrent theme in Chris' journal was a search for "truth", and he linked that search to the lack of truth he perceived in his family life. After graduating from college Chris felt the need to flee from his family and their expectations in order to seek the truth that he felt he had never experienced. To say that I grew up in a broken home growing up would be a gross misstatement.
Compare/Contrast Essay How did the conditions surrounding Mike from “The Moustache”by…. and Greg from “The Treasure of Lemon Brown”by….. influence them when they faced the main problem in each story? Their actions were affected by what had been happening to them before they encountered the problem. Greg and Mike both were going through uncomfortable situations. Mike was being teased and looked at differently due to his moustache, and Greg was having serious trouble with grades and therefore couldn’t play for a team.
And the only thing that kept him going was his dad but the chance of getting separated from his dad was devastating for him. He was constantly hit with life and death situations throughout the whole year he spent going from camp to camp. Elie and his father had to lie about their age to even stay alive. “Here, Kid, how old are you?” “Eighteen” This helps keep him from being burned in the crematory. He was scared, felt lonely and wanted to do anything to stay alive.
