Baseball vs softball Strike you’re out! Question is what sport are you out in. It could be baseball or softball. Yes one is mostly played by girls while the other is played mostly by boys, but does that distinguish them? The answer is no. They both happen to be very similar sport. However, they do have their differences. Although, both sports offer a fun form of exercise while meeting new people and competition. To compare and contrast the two you need to determine the different techniques, determine the different rules and identify the similarities. Baseball and softball seem like the same sport but they do have a few differences. Softball has a special type of pitching which is called “the windmill.” It is an underhand positioned type of throw. Baseball uses an over hand pitch. In softball the pitcher can start and finish a game or even pitch a double header because it is a more natural motion than in baseball.
