Physician productivity The success of an urgent care center is, from the day it opens, dependent upon the physician providing the services. One developer of urgent care cites two practices regarding physician productivity as being critical to the business. Dona Sandefur, Vice President of Development for Centra Care Medical Centers, Inc., in Orlando from 1988-90 and now Vice President of Management Services, HCA Physician Services, says, “First of all, there has to be some recognition that ‘this is a physician business.’ Another way of saying physician productivity is ‘seeing patients.’ That’s what doctors do – they see patients. The advantages for adding a new building space for a new orthopedic service line are as follows; Currently Trinity Community Hospital can build on their own property and have control over every aspect of the construction, including adding parts that will involve the community. The cost of the new building will be $600,000 if built on their campus. Building a new facility will attract new doctors, new donors, and new employees due to the fact that people like new. Recruiting doctors can sometimes be difficult and this would be an advantage for Trinity Community Hospital.

As CEO of Middle field hospital I believe specific strategies need to be developed in order to improve the financial performance of the hospital. One of the problems at Middle field is competition from a nearby hospital. The nearby hospital that competes with Middlefield has opened a wellness center that offers a comprehensive array of preventative and wellness services to the community. This facility is attracting young families to seek services at this location. At Middlefield we have been relying on our reputation too much.
Homework Week 1 Chapter 1 3-An orthopedic group practice has decided to develop a pediatric sports medicine programs. Identify potential target markets for this new service. Potential target for this service would be the community that has a concentrated amount of middle / high school consumers with a multiple athletic programs. Being inside the city, potential consumers would be typically resort to the emergency room, urgent care, clinic etc. I think that another potential target market could be a pediatric medical group with sup –specialties.
