Banned Books Whether it is banned, challenged, or censored a book should always be allowed in school libraries. There should be no such thing as banned books. In some cases people may argue and state that banned books is a good idea because not all books should be available at reach for students. I believe books should not be banned based on their content because some books hold great life lessons. I have recently read the novel Jumper by Steven Gould, a banned book. I had difficulty understanding why it was banned then I realized it was banned because of a sex scene. This little reason was a reason that this novel was banned and the reason that students wouldn’t be able to read such a book that teens can think about and analyze. The novel Jumper can be a prime example of a book to analyze the question can progress be made without conflict. Students should be allowed to access this book because it is about a young boy, a teen, who overcomes obstacles in life, just as we do. This teen struggles at home, with getting abused just like many teens do. He begins to live life on his way and he faces a lot of conflicts just like many people do when they begin life on their own. I feel like many teens can relate to this story because we all have to come over obstacles as the main character in the book does. It also makes me realize how everyone’s life differs and some have it worse than others. Books are a way to express situations. Books should not be banned because lessons can learn from them. Books give us room for thought and to see things different from a different perspective. In the book Jumper by Steven Gould, the main character has “powers”.
