History In 1865, William G. Morgan came up with an idea to combine some of the elements of sports such as basketball, tennis, handball, and baseball. William took a tennis net and placed it 6 feet 6 inches high. At this time, William called this game “Mintonette”. This game was invented in Holyoke, Massachusetts, where William lived. While playing a game of Mintonette, somebody told William that the players looked like they were “volleying the ball back and forth”, and said “volleyball” may be a more proper name for this sport.
Jessica Yan Rick St. Denis, Tyler Wiseman 13 September 2012 Projectile Motion: Ball in the Bin Purpose: The purpose of the experiment is to determine the velocity of a ball launched from the Projectile Launcher device, and then to use that velocity to find where on the floor the ball will land given a specific angle. Theory: Two-dimensional motion is as it sounds, made of the two components of Vertical velocity and Horizontal Velocity. Horizontal Motion can be described as constant, neglecting air resistance, and Vertical Motion is characterized by the acceleration of gravity pulling at 9.8m/s². In this particular experiment, the total velocity will be split into the two components in order to find the time in the air, and horizontal distance from the launcher. The motion of these components can be described as d=vt for constant horizontal motion, and d=1/2at² + Vit.
MJ Vincent October 15, 2009 Pickleball Questions 1. Pickleball rules are similar to tennis and ping pong. 2. Yes, there is rally scoring in Pickleball. Rally scoring is when two teams hit until one team doesn’t complete a play and the other team receives the point.
Only the server can score points – 1 point per serve. Each time you win a point you serve again. You continue serving until you lose the rally. Pickleball is a sport that was originally created as a backyard game in 1965 on Bainbridge Island Washington by Congressman Joel Pritchard, William Bell, and Barney McCallum. The concept was a game easier than other racquet sports (badminton, tennis, and paddleball) to keep the kids entertained.
Label the following structures of your specimen: Bicep muscle Tricep muscle Forearm muscle Tendon Part B: Straighten the chicken wing and hold it horizontally above the tray. Identify the biceps muscle and triceps muscle. The biceps muscle is on the anterior part of the upper wing; the triceps is located on the posterior part of the upper wing. Pull on each of the muscles in the upper and lower wing, and note the movement that each muscle causes. Turn the wing upside down and bend the joints.
Replace the ramp as in Figure 3.1. Figure 3.1: Equipment Setup Mark with pencil Photogate Use a plumb bob to determine the point directly below where the ball will leave the edge of the table after rolling down the ramp. Measure the distance from the floor to the top of the table at the point where the ball leaves the table and record this value as dy. Ramp Ramp To measure the position where the ball will strike the floor after rolling down the ramp, tape a piece of plain paper onto the floor with a piece of carbon paper on top. The impact ® LED comes ON LED goes OFF Figure 3.2: Measuring Dd 9 Photogate Timers 012-06379A of the ball will leave a clear mark for measuring
Calibrate Guns 3. Mark the starting position 4. Measure and mark 20 feet from the starting position with flag 5. Repeat step 4 at 40 and 60 feet 6. Place the target and shoot the paintball gun at the target 10 times at the 20 ft. placement position 7.
These are the results from both matches, I have put my tally chart into a table to make them clearer. I have added the mean, median, range and mode on to the table for each of the performance criteria. 1st basketball match | | 1st quarter | 2nd quarter | 3rd quarter | 4th quarter | Mean | Median | Mode | Range | Successful passes | 14 | 18 | 12 | 14 | 14.5 | 5/6 | 14 | 6 | Unsuccessful passes | 8 | 5 | 1 | 3 | 4.25 | 3/5 | 1,3,5,8 | 5 | interceptions | 2 | 6 | 8 | 10 | 6.5 | 3/4 | 2,6,8,10 | 8 | Successful shots | 6 | 10 | 7 | 6 | 7.25 | 6/7 | 6 | 4 | Unsuccessful shots | 5 | 9 | 2 | 4 | 5 | 4/5 | 2,4,5,9 | 7 | | | | | | | | | | 2nd basketball match | | 1st quarter | 2nd quarter | 3rd quarter | 4th quarter | Mean | Median | Mode | Range | Successful passes | 15 | 18 | 15 | 14 | 15.5 | 15 | 15 | 4 | Unsuccessful passes | 5 | 5 | 1 | 3 | 3.5 | 3/5 | 5 | 4 | interceptions | 8 | 6 | 8 | 5 | 6.75 | 3/4 | 8 | 3 | Successful shots | 10 | 6 | 3 | 6 | 6.25 | 6 | 6 | 7 | Unsuccessful shots |
