She learned how to use a weed whacker at the age of 12. She owns over one hundred pair of Converse sneakers. She has a pizza named after her at a restaurant in her home town. She is 5 feet tall. She is the one and only Avril Lavigne. Avril is a Canadian singer, songwriter, musician, and fashion designer. Some people call her “the anti-Britney'', and some call her Avie or Av. She has a confident attitude and is also driven by perseverance. Avril doesn’t care what people think of her, and that is what made her a famous singer. She knew her dreams and never gave up chasing them. She was born on September 27, 1984 in Bellville, Ontario to Judy and John Lavigne. Both of her parents are Baptist and Canadian. Avril Ramona Lavigne has an older brother named Matthew. Michelle Lavigne is Avril’s younger sister. The first person to discover Avril’s singing talent was her mom. Avril started singing church songs with her mum at the age of 2. When Avril was 5, the Lavigne family moved to Napanee, Ontario. Avril taught herself how to play guitar when she was 12 years old. Her dad bought a microphone, a drum set, a keyboard, many guitars, and converted their basement to a studio for her. Avril also enjoyed playing sports. She usually would play the same sports as her older brother like hockey and baseball. She earned the MVP award 2 years in a row as a right wing on a Napanee hockey team. She once beat up a goalie and said that the experience was awesome! In high school she hung out with the skaters. Though she struggled to pay attention in school, sometimes being kicked out of class for misbehaving, her parents supported her singing. When Avril was 14, her parents would take her to karaoke lessons. Avie has also performed at county fairs. She sang songs by Garth Brooks, The Dixie Chicks, and Shania Twain at the fairs.
