This becomes Barcan’s thesis: All public toilets are dirty simply because that’s where we come in contact with each other. These dirty toilet theories may seem bizarre, but experiences like this occur every day. Based off our senses, we judge the people we meet in the bathroom and determine their values. Because society likes to hide the fact that we use the bathroom, it is nearly impossible not to judge others as they use toilets. If I truly want to comprehend Barcan’s thesis, I must visit a toilet myself.
The central irony of the story is the fact humans have been destroyed rather than saved by their very own technology. In a further moral lesson, Bradbury shows how human technology is able to withstand the demise of its maker, yet is ultimately destroyed by nature, a force which prevails over all others. The way that Bradbury shows that technology outlasts its creators is by characterizing the house with anthropomorphic, human, characteristics. Bradbury shows the anthropomorphic characteristics of the house right away in the first paragraph with the voice clock singing, “tick-tock, seven o’ clock, time to get up, time to get up, seven o’ clock!” The stove then makes breakfast for the people and the ceiling announces the date and important events for the day. The clock tells the time again at eight o’ clock and outside the weather predicts the weather.

(The rest of the boys’ hair are long and unkept filled with filth.) 4.
FIREWORKS There is a lot of physics and chemistry involved in making fireworks. Their colors come from the different temperatures of hot, glowing metals and from the light emitted by burning chemical compounds. Chemical reactions propel them and burst them into special shapes. Here's an element-by-element look at what is involved in your average firework: Aluminum - Aluminum is used to produce silver and white flames and sparks. It is a common component of sparklers.
Mice and yellow weasels were seen running around looking for a place to hide. In one household in the city of Tangshan, a goldfish began jumping wildly in its bowl. At 2 a.m. on July 28, shortly before the earthquake struck, the goldfish jumped out of its bowl. Once its owner had returned him to his bowl, the goldfish continued to jump out of its bowl until the earthquake hit. many people reported seeing strange lights as well as loud sounds.
When parts of the mantle or crust melt, magma is formed. Within these magma chambers, gases in the chambers are causing an increase in pressure. As the pressure gets higher, the magma moves up. It moves up into the “throat” or the volcano, and thus causing an eruption. During some eruptions, you can even see lightning due to ash particles that cause electric sparks.
During the explosion not only are gases produced quickly, but they are also hot, and they expand rapidly, according to Charles’ Law, which states that as the temperature of enclosed gas increases, the volume increases, if the pressure is consistent(Antonis, K. 2010). The chemical reaction the firework puts off is when [a]toms, as well as molecules, come together to form larger molecules, and larger molecules break up(Trefil, 2014). The chemical reaction also depends on the color of the firework. How do Chemists make the colors for Fireworks? When scientists make the different colors, each color has its own element.
With the new advancement in technology, the society have entered in a form of war with boredom. It is rare that we find ourselves without any form of entertainment, and when we do it feels as if we lost a battle to boredom. But it seems that we might started with boredom on the wrong foot. Research implies that instead of knowing boredom as a feeling we should try to walk around, we should embrace it. It suggests a balanced boredom would be more beneficial than none at all, beneficial to our minds as well as for our careers.
When he says ‘what might have appalled us when we started out trip a few days ago no longer impressed us much’, the reader gets the impression that Alagiah is a heartless, cruel man. However, as the extract goes on, the view of Alagiah’s character changes quite rapidly, as his emotions are more involved. Alagiah also uses senses to describe what he was feeling and experiencing. A good example of this would be ‘it was a smell that drew me to her doorway’. This utilization of synaesthesia is effective as it creates a better relation with the reader by combining two senses- touch and smell- to create one realistic effect.
