College provides us with the knowledge and credibility that employers seek in this demanding world today. However a huge debate has to be brought to attention if going to college and receiving a bachelor’s degree should be a requirement to even get your foot in the door or be considered for a job. An interesting point of view on the bachelor’s degree being a job requirement is in the essay “Should The Obama Generation Drop Out?” by Charles Murray. Murray is a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, has written on social issues and published a book in 2008 regarding real education. I think Murray’s point of views will change a lot of people and the way they see education as a primary resource to qualify to get a good job.
“By tying grades to money, we give students incentives not to take risks” (Vogel, 392) that stop them from choosing challenging courses in college. Students find easier courses through word of mouth or websites that previous students rate their professor in. I always ask people who previously took the course I am interested in whether or not I have a chance of passing the course with a C or higher. Students are afraid of putting their grade point average at risk because the grade point average is a component of the application process that helps colleges decide who to accept. .
The percentage of high school drop outs in United States is very high, and some these students that drop out end up in prison or other terrible places such as drug dealing or gangs. In the documentary they also showed some schools with a lot of gang activity and gang violence. Parents of these students work very hard to pay taxes and keep there children in school, in hop that there children will get a good education. Some parents take tons of loans so they can send there kids to a private school, because the public schools are not teaching there students well. These hard working parents and dedicated teachers all want to see America with a brighter future, they are doing what they can to make sure that there children grow up to be important part of a good generation.
I did have some pressure from my parents to get good grades and to learn right from wrong. So the law of influence was a big thing because I wanted to be just like my parents. In my teen years, I was also using the law of influence because of how much I wanted to impress and get the approval of my parents. I guess through my whole life I was looking for approval from my elders in my life. I also wanted to grow up to do something to help people.
Their perspective on how the underachieved educational system is, alongside my encounters with complex of schooling. In high school, we are given many standards every day that we must meet in order to be considered successful, but the reality is; these standards are fruitless in expectation for colleges and universities. In high school I did not get the English composition skills, to prepare me for my college courses. They are right about their belief that the professors in the universities are very inspired in some ways to give their standards to the students in depth knowledge to set higher standards, however, it is not good to know that some high school students still enter Americas elite schools through remedial process, because it might agitate the worldwide standards set by the school
Being the first person in my family to get a college degree makes me feel so good. Setting example for children and letting them see that mommy can do it is priceless. The things that we do in life as far as school wise are thing we can take us to the next level is just a lot of us lose hope we are not sure where to go. I though getting a high school diploma was fine for me. I felt school was not for me because I have dyslexic and, I feel people just don’t want to help me.
Early education programs such as, the Head Start program was on top of the list for budget cuts. That would affect the kick start to learning that has been around for generations of young learners to take advantage of. Most American families are in favor of having an early learning program in their community. Studies show that kids the kids that participate in an early learning program develop a greater aptitude for learning and are accepted to better universities. Seems like the GOP does not understand that even though the average family can’t afford to send their kids to a top tier university does not mean they do not want to take advantage of early learning.
To them if that doesn’t turn out to be true then they feel like they have failed and didn’t do their job. Plus, from grade one until grade eleven teachers are graded on how well they prepare their students for the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) in Texas, as well as other states. In this instance they are only trying to get students to not write like the rest of the people their age but like a mature adult who knows how to put everything together to make sense and become an outstanding paper that stands out from the rest. In addition to this, all teachers try to get students to do is just be something different, something they have never seen before. All this is though is just a way to show students that this is the real world and in the real world you don’t get what you want and when you want it.
The barriers that undocumented students face in their path to a higher education can be overcome with the help of the Federal Government. And these can be done by passing a bill that helps undocumented students with there financial and illegal difficulties. For many years the U.S. has made it hard for undocumented students to attend college, and all because of their illegal status. These are undocumented students whose illegal status didn’t matter as they attended elementary school. But all of that changes on the day that they reach senior year in high school at the process of filling out the college application and financial-aid forms.
Whatever it takes to get there By: Brandi Gaymon Living in North Philadelphia is already a challenge in itself when attending a public school. There are always the students who do not care, do not want to learn, and expect everyone else to feel the same way about their education. But not me, I have always been interested in school studies and incorporating what I know into higher learning. Ever since I can remember I’ve wanted to attend college after high school in order to better myself and be a good role model for my two younger brothers. In the future I hope to one day become a Cardiovascular Perfusionist and I am trying my best to make my career goal a reality.
