Attitude is altitude Your attitude can affect your success in school. For instance, if you go to school with a negative attitude that you’re not going to do well, chances are you’re actually not going to. Thoughts, ideas, and reality knock you down. Last semester I was the unhappiest person. I was always in an unpleasant mood and wanting to succeed in school was the last thought I had. I was always saying to myself that I would fail, thinking about what else I could do that I wouldn’t need an education for. It took me hitting rock bottom to realize school is my only way out of this life I was living. Staying in school to better myself was the best decision that I could have ever made. Another example is going to school with the “I know it all” attitude. You don’t let your mind open, you don’t want to try new things or even take a risk or opportunity to expand your learning capability. Sure, we know a few things that someone else doesn’t, but don’t let that attitude draw people away from wanting to show you new things and teach you something you never knew. Also it may be teachers that affect your attitude. You may be struggling and need that extra help, but they just have no hope in you and how you can actually progress. Many teachers don’t understand you need to show you care about what you teach and about your students. How they learn and how they feel about what’s being taught is important. It is your job, but you need to help and be there for your student. Encourage them that they can succeed and help them in any way you can. The students are this country’s future and it’s shocking how many students you come across that think they have no future because the teachers have not taken the time to interact with them. Our attitudes toward success and failure need to change. People who say they can and those who say they can’t are both right. You should have
