Goddess of Wisdom Knowledge, technique, courage, strategy, are only a few words that can be used to describe what the brilliant goddess Athena has taken hold of. Aside from her odd birth, Athena is greatly respected for her intelligence, creations, even myths based on her life. Due to her incredible powers, she was able to aid those heroes in need, whether the conflict was in a war or in a journey. She has accomplished various teachings that have greatly improved society. Athena was born out of her father's forehead! That's right, Athena was born full grown and armed straight out of Zeus's head. Nine months before the goddess was born, Zeus found out that his first wife, Metis, was pregnant with, who he thought, would be the powerful son that would overthrow him. When he found out about the pregnancy, he tricked his wife into turning into a fly and ate her. For several months, Athena grew inside of Zeus's head which gave him huge headaches. One day the pain became so unbearable, he finally he ordered Hephaestus, the god of fire, to cut open his head. Just as his head split, out sprung a tall, slim, goddess wearing a suit of armor with the helmet pulled back just enough to reveal her beauty. The manner she made her entrance to the world in, gave her the mark of a warrior goddess. To this day, she is portrayed with her spear in one hand and shield in the other, these objects became her symbols. Athena’s tree is the olive tree because during the argument with Poseidon of the city of Athens, She created a giant olive tree which was an important gift to the people of the Athens. Her animal is said to be the owl because I possesses great wisdom just like Athena. Throughout her life, her armor not only protected her from both the physical pain of battle, but from the emotional pain and the agony of others as well.
