Shopping smart has affected my family greatly. We buy off brand groceries, and use coupons, and we don’t go out to movies and restaurants as much, but we still find fun, low-cost ways of entertainment. I think this change is a good change, because it is teaching people to get what they want and save money, and then using the money that they saved for other things. There really isn’t anything that I miss about the time before the change. The change has only had a good outcome for my family.
Sweatshops may exist in any country but are more commonly found in LEDC’s. Many of the clothes sold in retail outlets in MEDC’s are manufactured in factories in LEDC’s. In many industries, including the fashion industry, jobs have been lost in MEDC’s because goods and clothes can be produced (manufactured) cheaply and more efficiently in the poorer parts of the world. This is because manufacturing overseas is cheaper; the wages there are lower, due to lots of workers being available and there being no minimum wage. Therefore manufacturers make bigger profit.

For people who work at Walmart, in order to make ends meet, they usually have to work at two different jobs. Their significant other usually has to work, too. Not enough money and too much stress lowers the quality of life that people have, and their standards of living also drop, as they are forced to get by with cheap, low-quality items (Nickels, McHugh & McHugh, 2010).
This happened with General Motors, where other countries required a lower minimum wage, allowing General Motors to collect more profit. The main question is, should the corporations act with humility, or solely for self-interest? Naturally this economic question isn't simple; there are many factors one needs to take into consideration. After General Motors moved their factories to other countries, the prices of cars went down because it cost less to make them. While some Americans were unemployed because of the corporations' move, the general population was benefiting from lower prices.
However, many workers find that does not happen. Yes, I will admit that they offer better wages than many people in agricultural areas will make, along with that are additional loans to what has often been described as the company store. Then, people who would like to buy their products have to sign up to be store membership. The companies such as Sam’s Club, BJ’s Wholesales Club, and even Costco will allow just memberships to buy the products in low prices.
Another reason people like to defend Wal-Mart is because they have better prices than most everyone else which is easier on peoples wallets. Wal-Mart has become such a household name that most people will shop there without checking out other business when they realistically could be spending a little extra pocket change and helping their economy and help control this giant corporation. The savings people get are on account of cheap foreign goods that aren’t as good as American goods and people don’t realize it because they just remember the good deals. It is clear that many of them work not because they are hard working by nature but because they have bills that are more than what they make, so many are bound to do more than two jobs just to meet up, and this will eventually goes to statistics as hard working but it is not, it is working to make ends meet. Many jobs that requires long set of working hours are often taken by immigrants. Americans are least likely to take low-skilled jobs and it is the immigrants who take those jobs. Thus, it is often found that majority of low-skilled jobs are taken by immigrants. With less opportunity and benefits for them, immigrants are encouraged to take any job available to them.
Then, the sales volume of different aspects all dropped. Also, there are many activities other than bowling around the downtown core which increase the power of buyers. Customers have many substitutes which means they have a big power to enjoy a lower price in Sugar bowl. For the threat of substitute is relatively high because Raleigh is the capital of NC, there are many other places for entertainment that are less costly and fun such as shopping malls, restaurants. Customers can choose activities other than bowling in Raleigh although these can be considered as indirect substitutes.
