At First I was Happy “What did I do?” “Did I make the right choice?” “I wish I could go back.” Many women have thought these very thoughts after walking away from the abortion clinic. These decisions are not just a procedure, they are lifelong decisions. Abortions should be carefully researched and seriously thought about. Abortions have long lasting effects. There are many physical, moral, and emotional effects involved with this procedure. The physical procedure is very painful and can cause future physical problems as well. There is hard cramping during the procedure, causing severe or intense pain. Patients can experience a more intense level of cramping, for a long period of time, after the procedure. As with any medical procedure, there are risks including; hemorrhaging, infection, sterility, and even death. Abortions can also cause problems with future pregnancies such as; miscarriage, higher chance of bleeding in first three months, less likely to deliver normally, twice as likely for the child to die in the first few months of life, could cause low birth weight, and lastly, but certainly not least, could cause premature birth. If one gets past these potential complications, after their abortion, their worries are not quite over one now has to worry if their child will see past their first birthday. Children of women who have had an abortion are more likely to die between ten and twelve months of life. Abortions do not just last a few minutes or a few days, but last years, if not, abortions could physically last a lifetime. There are many moral reasons not to have an abortion. The Bible states that one should not shed an innocent blood. Are unborn children innocent? One could interpret that to mean that the life of an unborn child is pure and innocent and should be treated as precious. There is an old saying “Everything happens for
