Artifact Assignment

Throughout the week, I have been following three specific Twitter accounts. Through each “tweet”, I have discovered their individual beliefs, strategies, and values that they find worthy enough to share with the public. By following Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, and Mitt Romney, I was able to judge and build my personal opinion of their rise in politics.
As I began my hunt through their twitter timelines, I noticed that all of these candidates are pro-life, a risky choice, with Santorum being the top-tier anti-abortionist left in the presidential race going as far as defunding Planned Parenthood (same goes for Gingrich) and believing that Planned Parenthood has a hidden agenda behind their pro-choice stance. This issue is very near and dear to many voters across the nation and I think that it reflects poorly on them to not let women choose their future, no matter what the consequences. When it comes to Mitt Romney, I believe his choices aren’t reflecting the greater good of our country. He believes wire-tapping mosques will help the United States’ national security by intruding on the private and religious practice of all Muslims, which I find to be a huge invasion of privacy. Last but not least, Newt Gingrich seems to be very vague and not out-spoken. He’s refused to comment on President Obama’s troops withdrawal plans and has been quoted as “not sure” or “not in the right context” many times. As the race dwindles down, I can honestly say that I’m not sure whom I’d feel safe with as the head of our country.
