Victoria DiGiovanni The majority of high schools are now requiring a certain amount of community service hours in order to graduate. Most students see this as a chore, but just how beneficial is it? Community service improves the student’s character, exposes the student to new interests, and benefits the student’s future. Mandatory community service enhances these advantages. A student’s participation in various activities throughout the community opens the door to not only a better society, but also an improvement in the student’s morality and character.
This does not mean that parents have no rights to what happens to their child while they are at school but this allows school to guide student behaviors though discipline. This idea is called in loco parentis (pg. 378). This concept was once more important in schools than it is now but it has brought forth it idea that no matter the student, disabled or not, there needs to be a certain level of responsibility put on all students for their behaviors when they are at school. This would be a great chapter of the book for parents to read because it would help them to understand why the school is doing what it is doing.
I see this as a way to encourage open dialogue between students and administration. Circulation does convey a purpose to students as well as staff. I believe the principal must create that climate for learning with openness and development of trust. Through this reflective process I realize that the principal did do the majority of the paper work after the students had departed from school. This commitment models the expectations for the staff and proves that I, as a principal, must strive to create a school culture that has a positive influence on life and learning in my school.
Students will be less focused in school, and less likely to continue their educations, if they dread going to school each day. Including art and music in he curriculum will motivate students, and will inspire them to enjoy school. It will also give them a creative outlet. Many young people have trouble expressing their emotions in words, but find that the can communicate their ideas through music and art. Giving students an opportunity to create every day will keep them engaged in learning, keep frustration at bay, and lead to happier, more fulfilled children.
Students in grades kindergarten through twelve should be required to wear uniforms because it creates school unity, is safer, and it helps students develop a higher self-esteem. School uniforms makes students feel more connected with their school and classmates creating school unity. When students pay more attention to what name brands their peers are or are not wearing, the school becomes segregated making the poor students seem as outcasts. However, "when the emphasis is off fashion," students become united as one and are able to focus more on learing ("Wear a School Uniform"). Wearing school colors can make a student feel more proud of their school.
The Ghana Education Service have recently included arts as part of the curriculum at the basic schools to build the creativity of pupil before they get to the Junior High school and since is a new to our education system, there is a lack of creative art teacher and there is the desperate need for volunteers to help staff teach the subject. Volunteers will assist children to develop their cognitive abilities through creative methods using constructive materials, paints, clay and drawing. They will also help to keep the classroom clean, teach basic English and report on daily activities to local teachers. In addition to creative arts lessons, volunteers can spend time assisting the teachers in other subjects. This is a great program for creative volunteers as they will have the opportunity to design and implement recreational and educational activities for the children.
Students believe that in order to be well liked they need to dress in a certain manner, which seems to cause issues among peers. One way to help eliminate competitiveness, endless worrying about appearance and what peers are wearing to school is to incorporate uniforms into the school systems. Uniforms can act as a social leveler in an academic environment. They can help create equality in the eyes of the school and to peers according to International Debate Education Association ("School Uniforms"). By incorporating uniforms into schools administrators can create an environment where education can prepare children for the future, eliminate the vast differences in social classes and teach the children of tomorrow how to respect their surroundings.
Mrs. LeSane, her elementary teacher, believed in using art as therapy to help troubled children. Ms. Barry feels that attending school and the availability of creative programs like art and music are essential to kids. Barry is adamant that children from dysfunctional homes, like the one she grew up in, can greatly benefit from the stable environment school can provide. Her belief is that by funding creative programs and providing before and after
1.1 Explain why effective communication is important in developing positive relationships with children, young people and adults. Why effective communication is important Effective communication is important because it helps to improve the understanding between pupils and their adults. It also helps the staff at schools to communicate their feelings about students and plan future work. Sometimes if the communication is not very good between the adults in a classroom, it can affect the pupils. Children can notice the bad communication and that would not set a good example for growing, young children.
Introduction In this essay, I will be elaborating on why art is considered to be “basic” by many early childhood educators, what is early art experiences in early childhood classroom, how does the environment promote early art experiences in young children, why is it important to be creative while working in an art environment and what are the roles of educators, parents and children in support of creative art. Why art is considered to be “basic” by many early childhood educators? Art has traditionally been an important part of early childhood programs. Friedrich Froebel, the father of kindergarten, believed that young children should be involved in both making their own art and enjoying the art of others. Art allows children to express their views on things.
