B W Clue Paper Ladies and gentleman of the jury, I am here today to prove the innocence of the accused, Mrs. Peacock. On the night of December 3rd, Mr. Body was found dead in his observatory, with a bloodied candlestick located in the vicinity. A coroner's examination concluded that Mr. Body died of blunt trauma to the head. The blood on the candlestick was proven by DNA testing to be that of Mr. Body, concluding that it was the weapon used to kill Mr. Body. Mrs. Peacock is today charged with the first-degree murder of Mr. Body. Today, you will hear many testimonies and observe much evidence, but ultimately it is up to you, the jury, to pass judgment upon the accused. I have the utmost faith that justice will be served in this courtroom tonight. On that fateful night, Mrs. Peacock was witnessed leaving the scene of the crime, a short time before Mr. Body was found dead. While seemingly damning evidence, this has a simple explanation. Mrs. Peacock and Mrs. White both met with Mr. Body on the night of his death to discuss the future of their employment as maids in his household, as can be confirmed by the late Mr. Body's secretary. After confirming with Mr. Body her retirement, she received a candlestick from him. In her haste to leave, the candlestick was left behind in the observatory. According to Mr. Body's secretary, Mrs. White was scheduled to meet with Mr. Body after he finished talking to Mrs. Peacock. I now present to you what really happened the night of December 3rd. During that meeting, Mr. Body fired Mrs. White, for she had been witnessed by other servants stealing from the house. In a fit of rage, Mrs. White took the nearest thing she could find, in this case the discarded candlestick, and bludgeoned Mr. Body to death.
