The True Cost of Textbooks Dear Council Woman Smith, I would first like to congratulate you on your newly elected position. I am writing you in order to discuss a problem that is well known to students, professors, and faculty of higher education: the ever-increasing costs of buying textbooks. The burden of these books often exceeds the cost of tuition at community colleges, where cost of education is often of most importance. I propose mandating that all textbooks required for instruction have an eBook or equivalent online source. This would simultaneously allow more individuals to afford higher education by decreasing the overall cost of instruction material, while decreasing the amount of raw materials used in the production of textbooks.
Another cause could be that those books can be found elsewhere online for cheaper. The University store was forced to keep the price of the textbooks the same, but as time went on, the price became cheaper on different online websites. PROCEDURES TO IMPROVE STORE’S OBSOLESCENCE PROBLEM First off, the University store has to be mindful of the demand for these textbooks. There is no need to order hundreds of extra books without knowing for sure if they are going to sell out or not. They must instead order a small number of books and see how students react to it.
AO4 There are a number of different strategies to help prevent breast cancer from occurring. One way that can prevent breast cancer from occurring is by living a more healthy lifestyle. In the UK it is estimated that being overweight and being obese causes around 17,000 cases of cancer each year. I feel like this is the most simplest way to prevent breast cancer and it’s easier as people can replace the unhealthy food they eat with more healthier food. Even though it’s an easier way it is more expensive which unfortunately would make it more difficult for people who are in poverty to make this change.
When buying a computer, what do you want the most? Usually, the answer to that question is a fast machine that you can upgrade, and not spend a whole lot of money. If you want cost efficient and upgradeable, PC is the best! But why not choose MAC? In today's world, MAC is becoming more of a trend among people, they are cool and fast machines.
Thanks to the printing press, many could receive a map of their own and could contribute to the map evolution. Another result of the printing press was that it was able to create copies of books(background essay; Gutenberg and his invention). Before the printing press was made, books were very scarce and expensive and it took about a year to right just one. Only the rich were able to afford them, and if the rich weren’t able to read then what was the purpose of purchasing them? If we didn’t have many books then how cold we gain knowledge?
Some being more valid than others, initially I didn’t look into any specific one I just bookmarked all the ones that I had found while using google. Next I went on to a more old fashioned research technique and decided to take a field trip to the library. Using the online search the library provides us with I found several books having to do with both Guatemala and the United states during the time of the coup d’ etat. I started looking for the books in the library and came across many that were useless to me and many that had tons of facts that I knew would be amazing towards the research. Then as I usually do I stopped working on the project and procrastinated to the last moment possible.
Fixed lines also have cons to go along with it as well. Most wire line phone companies charge more than what you'd pay for most alternatives, and some are taxed more as well. There are some locations where getting new wired phone service is prohibitively expensive or even impossible. Long distance and extra features like call waiting are normally included with alternative phones. Cellular has some great reason why it should be considered over fixed lines.
The benefit of the laptop is enable students to buy electronic books online and have them everywhere you go. Multitudes of electronic books are available online, which limits the need to have copies and insets from full books. This will cause lower the demand for paperback books inversely decreasing the cost for students who feel they learn better with physical books. All of these changes will sustainably decrease the cost of
The process to create the paper does not involve releasing harmful toxins like tree paper processing does. The largest benefit of using hemp as paper is the fact that hemp can harvest in just four months after being planted. Trees can take tens to hundreds of years to be ready for harvest. The fact that deforestation due to tree paper processing destroys the habitats for thousands of animals also must be taken into consideration and adds to the list of reasons why hemp needs to be grown in the U.S. In addition to the use of hemp as paper, an equally valuable and environmentally friendly use of hemp is as a source of
Most people find reading books easier so don’t some people like me because I prefer researching on the internet to searching for stuff in the library. Some people will support Carr by saying that the internet really makes us dumber but I’m on the opposite side because I defiantly think it makes as smarter especially with this technology that keeps improving as years come. All these things we have today and are able to access to will not be available without the internet because people or researchers wouldn’t have been able to get accurate information about what they were looking
