I also discussed who he is, what he did to become such a great leader, when did they became a leader, where leadership characteristics were shown, and why he is a leader. Washington knew how to take charge, keep his subordinates informed, and prepare clear, concise operation orders. George Washington has gone down in history being one of the greatest leaders that has lived, and made a huge impact on society as we know
General Washington could be classified with multiple leadership styles including leadership by example, a transformational leader or even a servant leader. He is considered by many to be one of the most influential leaders of all time and certainly was one of our greatest presidents. Looking first at his leadership style of leading by example, he knew that he had to set the way for the people of the United States to follow for years after his presidency and establish a norm for how the country should be governed. He has high expectations of the young country, and it was said that he “…carried a vision into his presidency and sought to ensure a well-ordered government based on both laws and reason. He believed that through using reason and being open to various viewpoints, citizens could arrive at proper laws and policies to ensure peace, prosperity, and happiness for the country (McNeilly, 168).” Washington was intelligent enough to know the importance of a strong leader in the early years of this new country.
Essay 7 Manifest Destiny is something that is incredible to think about and even more incredible to actually learn about. It was a time in the United States when we truly began to see ourselves as a powerful nation. It was to the point where we had gone beyond seeing ourselves as a nation of just people looking for a better way of life; the United States began to see itself as those who were chosen by a higher power to do something great. In the eyes of the people they were chosen to expand and grow. They believed they had a destiny.
Founding Brothers Analysis While reading Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation by Joseph J. Ellis, I was given a new perspective on the people who shaped the United States and the issues they faced. I was always taught in elementary school that we wrote the Declaration of Independence, drafted a Constitution, and before you knew it, George Washington was president. But after reading this book, I now realize that there was a lot more going on behind the scenes and the future of the United States was not always so secure. Because an independent, democratic country which offered many rights and freedoms to its citizens was a novel idea in that era, the Founding Brothers had a difficult time deciding how to set up and govern the United States. The biggest issue facing these men at all times was the security and future of the United States, and these men are very important contributors to our country because they were able to set up a stable foundation for our country on which we still depend on today.
The characters dialogues where believable and adequately portray by their circumstances. You have the noble hero, motivational muse that keeps the hero alive, the political figures, the villain’s, the comrades, the friend’s. In my opinion the main character, Ender remains the same. Ender is a smart and noble worrier and his biggest conflict throughout the movie is that he wants to defeat the enemy but still feels the necessity to maintain his humanity in the process. Possibly the biggest and only change we see in Ender is that he loses his fears and learns to be a leader and ultimately the noble hero of the story.
He did a very good job on his presidency and he had many important achievements. I would definitely have voted for Jefferson because he was brilliant and he understood the needs of the people. As mentioned above, he helped to write the Declaration of Independence and the constitutional law. Lastly, he argued fundamentally that a federal government that had too much authority over its people would ultimately undergo a revolution. The fact that not all thanes could be as courageous and have so many heroic achievements for their countries and rulers is why Beowulf seems so ideal and extraordinary. Beowulf's many achievements told throughout the story gives him the appearance of the most faithful of thanes, who has climbed the social ladder not because he has meant to do so, but because he wishes to protect his country and others and give all the credit to its rulers. This sort of behavior gives him a kind and generous nature that can be traced to a kind of chivalry. Chivalry can also be considered a very important role in the creation of a thane's reputation and popularity. Through Beowulf's chivalry, generosity, friendship, and popularity, all of his kingdom and of others knew him for his heroism and loyalty.
Throughout our history, America has known many great leaders. Our Presidents serve as leaders of the free world and the Commander-in-chief of our Armed Forces. With that much power, comes a responsibility greater than any other in this nation. Our greatest leaders have taken that power and transformed it into the very foundation our nation stands on today. They use courage, compassion, determination, intelligence, and the capability to orate to billions of people; while making them each feel they are a part of one family.
Benjamin Harrison and the Homestead Strike Since the genesis of The United States of America many well known presidents such as Washington, Lincoln, and Roosevelt have made notable contributions that have significantly shaped this nation. Their “greatness” factor, for the most part is undisputed. Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “All of our great presidents were leaders of thought at a time when certain ideas in the life of the nation had to be clarified”. The question of greatness has been levied towards the contributions of our 23rd President Benjamin Harrison, who was the only president to be the grandson of a president. Harrison’s distinguished political lineage however, did not guarantee him greatness or wins in his presidential bids.
Eyes on the Prize “ I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: we hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal.” This quote was said by one of the most important civil rights leaders America has ever had, Martin Luther King Jr. Without these words and other powerful speeches told by civil rights leaders such as Booker T. Washington and W.E.B Du Boise, we might not be sitting next to the person we do in class right now. They were great advocates who helped to shape America into what it is today, a better, more united, stronger place to live. Our very own Declaration of Independence states that “all men are created equal” and equal is what we are all meant to be. The civil rights movement was a revolution that united our nation for a second time.
