Crazy Horse’s forces didn’t have advanced arms, but he had better wisdom and tactics of war. He defeated extremely arrogant Custer. While at the end of the poem, Custer said that he would be reborn whenever dictators need him or whenever movie-goers want to watch him. This is an ironic and humor ending. Through this ending, Alexie indicates his view on Custer: he was standing on the side of dictators; he was a bad guy.
Also, the story is set in wartime as most epic stories are. However, although the famous epic stories, Beowulf and Gilgamesh, have a scene in which the hero bravely fights a monster to save his people, the Husband’s Message is about his life after the fight and his exile from the country. Therefore, there is no depiction that tells how he fought in the war with superhuman strength and demonstrated bravery through the fight. It means that there is no evidence to be an epic hero who he risks his life for the benefit of society and is glorified by the people he saves. It is a love poem rather than those epic stories with adventurous events occurring.
How does the dragon react when it notices its cup has been stolen? Angry -> attacks countryside, fire, (Canto 32-34 italics) Enraged…”furious at the theft…attacks the countryside…the companions listened to Beowulf” 3. What does Beowulf's boast in lines 2511-2515 say about his character? He’s never afraid…”I’ve never known fear” lines 2511; Experienced when fighting the battles 2512-15; Even though he’s old he is still confident, stereotypical Anglo-Saxon (boasting, fame), not satisfied with having only previous rewards – “I am old now, …fight…seek fame still” (lines 2512-2513) 4. Why does
Hitler was for his people. Now, Saddam Hussein was a not too smart leader that was greedy and heartless causing him to use all his money on palaces and comfort. Also, since he was heartless he would kill people who didn’t agree with him or EVER if they did so much as say they didn’t like him. Hitler had a long series of things he did, but some things he did were good and some were mean or cruel. Hitler was born on April 20,1889 to April 30,1945.
Or, is Wayne a better hero then Cooper? I would totally disagree with Hawks. Cooper and Wayne are both heroes, and both are equally “good” heroes. Going “around the town like a chicken with his head off asking for help” is heroism. Coming back to clear the town from bad guys and risking his life for people that even don’t want his help is not foolishness, it’s heroism.
I am a curse. Narrator: Iocasta over heard it all and she screamed & cried in a chamber before she killed herself… Finding her, Oedipus sat beside her & pierces his eyes with his knife to blind himself. Part III Narrator: With Iocasta dead, all the evils came with it. Oedipus lived a blind life as his children; two sons and two daughters grow up. They were not like monster as what was prophesied.
In the essay, “Letter to President Pierce”, written by Chief Seattle, he stated, “We know the white men does not understand our ways. One portion of the land is the same as the next, for he is a stranger who comes in the night and takes from the land whatever he needs. The Earth is not his brother, but his enemy, and when he conquered it, he moves on” (Seattle 648). Mankind is selfish, and should treat every living organism with affection, not over use it for their needs. Buggy horses are tortured every day, just to die a disgusting death at the slaughterhouse the horse will be sent to when it cannot fight anymore.
Beowulf did not face all the monsters alone, for he had men who followed him and helped him face most of the monsters. Beowulf had one last monster to defeat and it demanded the assistance of his men due to his older age. Beowulf and his men went to confront a vehement dragon who needed to perish. “No help or backing was to be had then from his high-born comrades; that hand-picked troop broke ranks and ran for their lives...”(746-749) Beowulf’s men betrayed him and left him to fend for him self, just as Christ’s disciples abandoned him. Only one Beowulf’s men stayed which was Wigalf.
She even says, "He was tall, strong-built something like you.”(960) Jocasta ignores or fails to recognize all the obvious similarities between Laios and Oedipus. Lastly, King Oedipus made a mistake losing his temper when he meets King Laios. "Then his driver tried to push me off the road...he leaned out and caught me on the head with an ugly goad… I killed them. Every one of them. "(1033-1041) Oedipus wronged Laios here by killing him over a small incident and fit of anger.
Simon’s death in the novel Lord of the Flies is the most tragic death of the story. For one thing, if the boys weren’t so riled up over the pig kill, screaming “kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood,” when Simon came out of the forest with news of the pilot, they would have learned that there was no beast on the mountain. This means that the fear of the beast on the mountain could’ve been eliminated, which was keeping them from making the signal fire on the highest part of the island.
