Antonio Gaudi Antonio Gaudi was known for his mind-numbing uniqueness that went many steps beyond the imagination of architects of his day. Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926) Seven properties (Casa Vicens; Gaudí’s work on the Nativity façade and Crypt of La Sagrada Familia; Casa Batlló; Crypt in Colonia Güell ) built by Antoni Gaudí in or near Barcelona testify to Gaudí’s exceptional creative contribution to the development of architecture and building technology in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His works represent an eclectic, as well as a very personal, style which was given free reign in the design of gardens, sculpture and all decorative arts, as well as architecture. The city of Barcelona was fortunate enough to be the playground of Gaudi. Some of the most famous of these include Casa Vicens, Parc Güell and the most famous of all, his contribution on the church of Sagrada Familia. I was able to visit the Park Güell last March 2012. When I saw this park, it was a very impressive first sight. For me it will always be a miracle anyone could have ever come up with this idea to shape. As you can see in the photos below, A magical park with amazing buildings, sculptures, and tile work. He is such a unique and brilliant architect. I was walking few hours in there. We think most of Gaudi's works are highlights, but this was the most pleasant to walk through. Park Güell (1900-1914), Barcelona, Spain The park contains amazing stone structures, stunning tiling and fascinating buildings. You can see from this picture the Gaudí dragon fountain that is at the entrance to Güell park. This dragon is adorned in beautiful coloured tiling and there is something rather hypnotic and magical about it. Large organic looking columns made from stone.
