Animal Farm Persuasive Essay George Orwell’s novel “Animal Farm,” was once said by Orwell to be “A Fairy story.” While that may be true, His main and dominant character calls Napoleon, Is easily seen as a metaphor for joseph Stalin, the leader of Russia at that time. Napoleon, like Stalin, was a selfish living abuser of power, whose beliefs and actions could only be seen as correct by someone very ignorant. Not only is napoleon a terrible leader of what was supposed to be an animal utopia; but by the end of the story he almost turned himself into what he said he hates: human. If he really wanted to lead the animals then he wouldn’t end up looking and acting like a human being. Napoleon is first and foremost a scheming, plotting liar, who will stop at nothing to make the animals believe he knows best. It all began with him getting rid of snowball, which was also a bore hog like him self and also a leader. Meany times through out the story he lies to the animals about things that happened on the farm. He told the 2 dogs he would teach their 2 puppies, but in reality he was training them to fiercely protect them. Napoleon also leads the other animals to believe that they will have pastures to retire and graze on when they reach retirement age. Boxer, a workhorse, was seen to work him self almost to death while believing he was days away from retirement. What napoleon really did was have him killed when he could not work any more. Lies like these are a big reason napoleons actions and beliefs are any thing but correct. Napoleons actions as a leader are proven to be incorrect when you look at his selfishness. From the beginning of the story, when he has all the cows milk and apples gathered up so the pigs are the only ones that get to enjoy them, his intensions are seen clearly. The other animals become malnourished by the end however the pigs stay fat and healthy.
