Analytical Frameworks The following report examines the purpose and importance of analytical frameworks with regards to their role in analysing the international business environment. First, the term ‘analytical framework’ will be defined, followed by explanation why analytical frameworks are important in business research. Finally, in order to gain a better understanding of the topic, one particular analytical framework will be introduced and examined for its advantages and disadvantages. 1. Definition Analytical frameworks can be described as “intellectual tools” (BNET, 2010, p.1) which are created in order to help a researcher to collect, sort, prioritise and interpret a variety of existing data and information about the subject or context that has to be analysed (Coupland, 2005). Furthermore, the purpose of an analytical framework is to give the study an analytic and disciplined methodology allowing a systematic evaluation of the data and thus enable the researcher to indentify the main data needed to come to a conclusion (Strategies& Tactics, 2006). 2. Importance of Analytical Frameworks As already said in the definition, analytical frameworks are have the purpose to help the researcher to organise the relevant data of an analysis (Coupland, 2005 and BNET, 2010), which is already very important for research. Moreover, they also can be used as guidelines that lead a researcher through research, just like travel maps that show a researcher the possible ways he can use. Thus, analytical frameworks help the researcher to decide and explain the research route taken, and help to focus on the study. (mujersana, 2003) 3. Example – SWOT Analysis a.
