As the taxi creeps along the street Wrigley Field slowly climbs out of the Chicago skyline and a beautiful thing occurs every time this happens…silence. We all slowly drift off in our sentences and take in the glory of our team’s home field. The striking red brick of the building, with the bold green ivy lazily climbing its walls and the “WRIGLEY FIELD, Home of the CHICAGO CUBS” sign screaming out from the front, and all receive the deserved moment of silence and respect they demand from those who walk inside its walls. Smiles slowly tiptoe across our faces, all though I am never sure if it is because of the look of the ballpark or the realization that the Cubby Bear is now within walking distance. As the cabbie gets paid his fee, we scamper across the street with a slight bounce in our step, and turn the corner to find our favorite pre-game bar.
Diving down the Westport road, I park my car at the event parking lot in Pennsylvania Ave. It’s past 9:00 on a Friday night. The sound makes me walking in the Europe Street, but there is not in Europe. In addition, the atmosphere is to my liking such as not Kansas City. Usually, living a Kansas City is not living in an urban city. Sure thing is that most people who live in Kansas City think Kansas City is urban.
THE 2011 HOLDEM STATESMAN IS EQUIPPED WITH THE SAME ENGINE, AND DOES 0-100 IN ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME TOO. BRAKING IS ON THE SOFT SIDE, AND I WOULD'VE PREFERRED A STIFFER RESPONSE. ROAD NOISE INSULATION IS EXCELLENT, AND THE COMMODORE IS QUIET. PROS: - DRIVER'S INSTRUMENTATION CLUSTER. - STANDARD 6.5" TOUCHSCREEN, EVEN ON BASE MODEL.
Jasmine Zamora Professor Izaquirre English 6015 January 31, 2013 “Love in L.A.” by Dagoberto Gilb Plot: “Love in L.A.” is a story that is set on the streets of Los Angeles in the heat of traffic. Our characters are Jake and Mariana. Ironically, while Jake is sitting in traffic, imagining about all of this freedom that he has, he collides with the car that is in front of him. For Jake it took a fender bender for his freedom to swell up. Even his license plate had “expired so long ago,” that he got one from the junkyard.
6 Gold in this sense represents the fairness and richness. "Involuntarily I glanced seawards and distinguished nothing except a single green light..." P9.21 Green in this sense may represent mystery of it all, it also relates to obsession and curiosity. Two "We drove over the fifth Avenue, so warm and soft, almost pastoral, on the summer sunday afternoon that
Nick comments on Gatsby’s car, "...and there in its monstrous length with triumphant hatboxes and supper-boxes and tool-boxes...Sitting down behind many layers of glass in a sort of leather conservatory we started towards town" (68). After Daisy and Gatsby’s reunion, Gatsby takes Nick and Daisy to his mansion and Gatsby shows off his wealth. Nick
Country music tells a story usually dramatic to a harmonious tune. It places an emphasis on the lyrics and the voice is always predominant in the songs (Michaud, 2011). Dolly Parton is known as the “Queen of Country Music” (Wikipedia, 2012). She loves country music and is very enthusiastic about the same. In an interview she told the interviewee that she chose country because “There is so much passion and everyday life in the songs (Country Legends, 2011).” When taking a closer look at her songs we will be able to see this.
To Tennessee, or Not to Tennessee You are in the car, driving through the streets of Tennessee with your family. You are so glad you took this trip with them, and you can’t wait to see the sights. Then you drive by a wedding chapel, go-kart tracks, and mini-golf courses. Oops. Guess you didn’t expect the sights to be jam-packed full of tourists!
I forget how many levels of the ship there were, but it seemed like a lot because by the time we got to the top it seemed like we had been walking through it forever. Getting to the top was pretty cool because they had a lot of old jet planes up there and we were able to sit in some of them and take pictures. At the end of the day, I remember being very worn out from all the walking around. After all the nice, fun, and relaxing days in California our weekend vacation came to end and we all had to head back to Arizona. Keep in mind, we are still driving the minivan until we reach Yuma again and can pick up the SUV that was being worked on.
While driving up to Cleveland the cars can be seen from miles away, as they start to pile up for the Sunday afternoon. It almost looks like everyone in Ohio is here to see their team play. Then just as you are entering Cleveland you can smell all of the toxins from the factories. It almost smells like an old moldy sandwich that you left out in the hot humid sun for a couple of days. You feel like rolling down your windows to get the smell out of your car, but you then realize, that the musky odor is coming from outside of the car.
