This is the contradicting of Jung. Jung has analysis himself to experience the unconscious through his dreams and fantasia Jung believe that he was strong enough to make dangerous journey and come back to talk about it. His goal was to understand the unconscious from the purpose viewpoint of scientist. Ellis thoughts are that society is more disturbs and it more inclusive and exact “people disturb themselves by thing that have happen to them. And by the view, feelings, and actions” (p16) Horney’s (1950) also Adler writes that our Emotional reactions and lifestyle are associated with our basic beliefs and are therefore cognitively created.
Horton (1999), regarded personal integration as a desire to clarify what is a model of counselling or psychotherapy, then use the conclusion as a way to structure the elements for an analysis of thinking in practice. I hope to demonstrate in this essay a personal integrative style that is suited to the way I propose to work, and to show how each client relationship is unique, but to always be mindful that the relationship is the therapy. Carl Jung said: "Learn your theories as well as you can, but put them aside when you touch the miracle of the living soul. Not theories but your own creative individuality alone must decide." (Jung 1953, cited in Hypnogenesis 2001).
Describe how the cognitive approach has been applied to RET The cognitive approach believes that we are information processors. Our thinking and the way we process and interpret events can affect our behaviour particularly our mood. Therefore rational emotional therapy is linked to the approach because its attempts to change the way an individual interprets and thinks about certain events. Ret was devised by albert ellis in the 1950’s. it tries to tackle mustabatory thinking (the thinking that you must be good at everything and like by everyone) by trying to make the patient think more rationally about situations.
The psychodynamic perspective is based on the work of Sigmund Freud. He created both a theory to explain personality and mental disorders and the form of therapy known as psychoanalysis. The psychodynamic approach assumes that all behaviour and mental processes reflect constant and unconscious struggles within person. These usually involve conflicts between our need to satisfy basic biological instincts, for example, for food, sex or aggression, and the restrictions imposed by society. Not all those who take a Psychodynamic approach accept all of Freud's original ideas, but most would view normal or problematic behavior as the result of a failure to resolve conflicts adequately.
He has paved many paths in the psychology field of study. Freud explored observable behavior and rather than changing the environment looked for alternate reasons for the behavior. Freud’s theory of psychodynamic perspective stated that all behaviors, both ordinary and unordinary are controlled by the unconscious mind. Freud’s research led him to discover that the unconscious mind controlled his patients’ behavior. Freud was a neurologist by degree but used his background to explore areas in the psychological field.
Personality Theory: Neurosis Brittany Nelson HHS 310 Instructor Smith There are many different theories involving personality among people in our society. These different personalities can occur through different people because not everybody is the same. In my case, I chose the Neurotic theory because this theory relates to my personality for the most part. Neurotic theories have been brought from the theorist Karen Horney. Karen Horney had come up with the best theory for Neurosis and it relates to me because I can agree with the needs that it calls for an individual.
Social cognition affects how we perceive and interpret information about the intrapersonal and the interpersonal world, ourselves and the others around us (Fiske 1995) There are many different strategies we use to make sense of our social world including Categorisation, Counterfactual thinking, Heuristics, Impression formation, Schemas and Thought suppression. Posner & Snyder (1975) separated these into two categories - 'unintentional' and 'intentional', also known as 'automatic' and 'controlled' cognitive processes. Impression formation is the first step to understanding anything, without it our knowledge cannot develop. As impression formation is an automatic process, these are considered a vital part of social cognition. Although, they lack of control over automatic processes, rely on pre-existing knowledge, happen almost instantly, and are inable to adapt to all circumstances, making them prone to errors.
She fully understood that society is the last influential outlook in how behavior transforms and is the main factor that characterizes gender. However, Horny also assumed in the in the influence of the unconscious mind as any Freudian psychoanalyst would. She thought that the unconscious plays a significant role in how one’s personality turns out to be. Horney moreover appreciated the significance of one’s childhood and viewed basic anxiety from being uncared for and not loved by one’s parents as being responsible. If one’s parents did not care for them appropriately when they were a child, they would most likely have general hostility, which would bring them back to their anxiety.
A book she wrote that gives a clear description of how defenses work, with special attention put on adolescents defenses. The focus that Anna put of the ego lead to a movement in psychoanalytic circles called ego psychology. Sigmund Freud maintained that repression was the main defense mechanism, and one of the chief tools of the ego to defend itself from the environment and the impulses of the id. The main priority with analysis was to get the patient to realize the repressing feelings they had, until Anna articulated with such richness the other defense mechanisms. Rationalism is one of the best known defense mechanisms besides repression, this is where the person constantly justifies their actions to seem logic, the person may also be perceived as “being defensive.” Another example of a defense mechanism is regression which is where a person gives up current development and goes back to prior levels, in extreme case an adult can form a child-like ego
Psychoanalytic Personality Assessment LukkiaPhilmore PSY/250 February 18, 2011 Larry Wegner When it comes to the theory of personality there has been a difficult process when trying to explain how we behave and how we think. Psychoanalytic theory which refers to the definition and dynamics of human development; it takes us deep into the human spirit. The founder of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud which his theory became notice in the 1900’s became a foundation of modern psychology of his views and perspectives of human development. There are many perspectives when considering personality; everyone doesn’t think alike we might have some similarities when it comes to how we behave. Psychoanalytic theory is the method that investigates and
