Onida Selders Steven Keeton English 101 21 January An Injury at Work is a Life Experience For the last ten years work had been a blast. I had wonderful co-workers and understanding bosses. Work was exciting because I was a tenured employee with much experience. I enjoyed everyone asking me for advice. However, when I slipped and fell at work many things changed: Attitudes, finances, and most importantly my Lower back. The attitudes of my employers and co-workers suddenly changed. Before the fall everyone was happy to see me. “Where is Nida,” they would ask. After the fall they acted as though they were afraid of me. Some of my co-workers even stop speaking to me as if they would get in trouble for talking to me. When I would go to the job to drop off my paper work, I would get a fake “How are you doing?” As if they did not really want to know. I would reply “Just want to get back to the old me.” After all I could not sue the company because it was a work related injury which meant Workers Compensation would have to supplement my income. My finances were diminishing. Workers Comp would only give me a portion of what I was making and that was not enough. I needed more money before the fall and even more afterwards. My bills began to pile up. It seemed as though I was getting a bill every week. What was I to do? Payday loans after payday loans caused me to get further into debt. I did not know how I was going to manage the next bill, but God would always make a way to get the bills paid. I was mentally ready to go back to work but couldn’t because I was still in pain. I was diagnosed with a Herniated Disc in my Lower Back. This was a pain hard to explain. I could actually feel the difference in my spine support. I would have doctor visit after visit and my pain remained the same. This injury has altered my entire lifestyle. I love to dance, plant flowers,
