MARLA TETSUKA-ENG105-WEEK 2 INDIV. PROJECT-“AN EXCITING VACATION” Have you ever been in the middle of the ocean on a cruise ship where you got to have lunch with Mickey Mouse? Or, have you ever been swimming in the Gilligan’s’ Island lagoon? Well I have, and this is how it happened! It all started when I was waiting in line to get our Disney Dream Cruise passes. Only 30 minutes seemed like hours because I was so excited. I finally got the passes and had to wait in another line to take a family photo. We were next to stand in front of the camera. We all smiled except my 3 year old daughter. She was too hot and grumpy and she looked like it too. She smiled for the retry of the photo, but half my family's eyes were closed. I worked and scrimped forever to save up the money to go. Wow, what I saw on this ship made my dreams come true. It was everything I wanted; a pool area with a slide that went around the whole deck and then shot you right into the water. I took a tour of the ship, and got to steer the whole ship sitting in the captain’s chair. Yet another photo opportunity. I have to say that I was happy when the mandatory emergency drills were over and we were finally headed to our cabin. Our cabin had 3 beds, one for my husband and me, a bunk bed for my sons, and a bed for my daughter. The cabin its self was nothing spectacular. It didn't even have a porthole. Even though my cabin wasn't so impressive, that was okay because I didn't stay in it too much, considering all the great activities there were to do. Castaway Key, an island now owned by Disney, and the most amazing tour of Nausea. Castaway Key was actually used in filming the lagoon scenes for Gilligan’s Island, the 70’s TV show hit. I got to go swimming in the lagoon! It was so cool, just like the TV show, but I got to float around and didn’t, thank God, have a broken sailboat called the Minnow to deal with. I rented an inner tube and just floated along minding my own business and being relaxed, until my son came up and unexpectedly flipped me off the tube. Yikes! Are there sharks? Or maybe some old sea mines! My gosh, I then came to the realization that I’d seen too much
