Running heading; Short Critical Reflection Paper Short Critical Reflection Paper Yvonne Small INF103 Phil Rietta October 25, 2012 There or pro and cons in compute technology it has expanded enormously and to become part of our daily lives. There are many ways you can use computers at work, school and even at home. And now we’re at the point where we can not only return to our old lifestyles but because we have accustomed ourselves to an easier way of life through computers. These are more of the many advantages to working with computers as well as disadvantages. With this being the end of the Cold War, there’s a new emerging into global marketplace economy aided by advancing computer and information processing technologies have rapidly changed the way people live and work.
Presentations Like the word processing documents you will be able to spot and correct spelling and punctuation results quicker also you can animate an image while you explain a point but the disadvantage is that you have to have a large room with a large screen so people can see you giving the presentation however this problem can be partially solved with video calling. Another disadvantage is the same with word possessing and that’s if there is a power cut you can lose all unsaved data this means that you have to do it all over again and it requires specific software to run the presentation. Emails Emails are very much like Word possessing documents in the way that it’s a document that consisted mainly of text and that you can easily fix a spelling mistake or a typo and it is also much easier to notice you also can have animated images on these furthermore with my point about them being like Word possessing documents, is that if there is a power cut you can lose all unsaved data this means that you have to do it all over again. You can send emails to people you know and attached files to them so they can get them however there is a really bad disadvantage
The purpose of a wireless router is to send and receive data across a network wirelessly. Many routers have updated tables within the router to learn where which computers are in a network. This will speed up the transfer of the data packets since the packet is only going to the designated computer. Wireless routers also have ports on the back which accepts an Ethernet cable from a high speed modem so internet connectivity can be shared. Wireless routers are connected to a network wirelessly and/or wired.
Mitchell Heyne Composition 2 January 7, 2014 Unit 3 Assignment 1 Summary Response Paper “Wow, this isn’t a bad article” I said to myself as I was reading “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” The point of this article is that people are losing the ability to concentrate for long periods of time, especially if they have no interest in the subject. Some people see this as a mental disorder, however, this is due to people trying to look for a quick fix and not doing the thorough research. I will agree that the way people are thinking is indeed changing, some for the good, but most for the bad as well. Search engines are rerouting our memory. According to one article in Science magazine, we're not necessarily losing our ability to remember things.
It seemed to me like Ms. Parr was trying to cram as much knowledge into us as possible in the short time that we had left. This has led to quite a bit of stress for me because all the while we also had to deal with the huge burden of AP tests and also every other teacher trying to shove as much information into our heads as possible (just like Ms. Parr). Although we had a lot of work this six weeks it was still pretty easy because it consisted of papers that could be done quickly if one worked efficiently. Also the information we were learning could be memorized very easily and quickly too which allowed me too easily put off studying for the multiple tests we had in this class until the last minute and gave me more time to finish my other classes work, Which I am thankful to Ms. Parr for. This six weeks was definitely one to remember from the fast pace we kept up during it too the , rotations we had, reviews, tests and all the way to the last rotation and Clinical lunch at cheddars.
Since the birth of the Internet and other communication utilities, it has been much easier to share information with one another. To find out what is happening in any country I could just go to a news webpage or Google or a similar alternative and research what I want. There is such a large spectrum of information that it is impossible to be able to absorb all of it, let alone have the time to try. People’s live got considerably more busy in the past 100 or so years, which leads to not having much time to really sit-down and take the time to read what we need to. This usually leads to people skipping over information and getting key-bits out of it and forgetting it once it isn’t needed anymore.
If we lie all the time we will start to have a brain that is tailor made to make lying easier (Neulieb). It is evidence like this that has made people ask the question of what role the internet may have in changing the way our brain works. One of these questions that has been brought up a lot recently is how it is effecting the way we are learning things. The internet has taken the place of books for the most part because the internet is such a powerful tool that most people who are in school have access to. With all this access to information at an extremely fast rate books have become something that people look past because it seems too time consuming in the fast pace world we live in.
People fifty years ago, were able to survive without computer. So why is it that, these days we can’t live without them. And that when our computer crashes, we feel as though the world has come to an end? My first argument in favour of our dependence on computers is that computers can be very helpful in society and allow us to actually move further forward, and at a faster pace than we would without them. For example, from a freelance writer point of view, who works from home, their laptop or computer, is their workstation, which eases their whereabouts for when and where they want to work.
In the 1980’s who would have thought of having personal computers or being able to log on the Internet. Our quality and standard of life has improved. It’s not that we work harder but we are paid more for the jobs we do. Which jobs have disappeared; In this technological age, computers have made many changes in our society. A number of jobs are now obsolete.
This fear dates back to at least the invention of movable type.” I tend to agree more with Sharkey because there are a lot of learning toold we can gain from the web. The internet is making a lot of people lazy, it takes all the work and effort out of reading, writing, and even thinking. What used to be time consuming can now be done in a shorter period of time. With just a few clicks and typed words. Most things are made much simpler by just googling and searching for words and stories.
