Case Study Analysis Narrative Firm Overview and Introduction to the Case In the case study Amy’s Bread we are introduced to Amy Scherber. She is the owner, managers, and head baker for Amy’s bread. This case study describes to us all of the struggles that Amy faced while starting her business. Amy is the main person in charge although she recently hired Toy Kim Dupree as an assistant manager to help with some of the duties. Amy takes care of all of the companies financial decisions and now she is facing a pretty big dilemma. She is deciding whether or not to expand her business so she will will be able to accommodate all of the growing needs of her customers. Amy needs to decide if she would like to enhance her business by growing both wholesale and retail side. Amy has been very successful at growing a business in a difficult market. The bread industry is a tough market to break into and Amy has been able to attain some high end customer. Amy has done this by paying her employees a little higher wage than her competitors. Although this makes for higher expenses for Amy, it also ensures that she is getting quality employees. Now Amy needs to decide if she wants to stay where she is, which is a very comfortable place, where she is making a profit, or does she want to move to another location where she would be able to meet the needs of the people that she currently has on a waiting list. Internal perspectives The problem that Amy is facing is actually a good problem. She has created a great product and it has attracted more customers than she imagined. Everyone wants Amy’s bread. This is making it difficult for Amy to continue to do business at her current smaller location. Now Amy needs to decided what to do.
