For many people, there are a lot of different roles, jobs and stresses to be dealt with on a daily basis. Life is a constant balancing act between being a worker, provider, student and even a parent. And for those trying to go to school while working to take care of their families, life can be especially stressful. Every parent wants their child to be safe at all times, but they can’t be around them twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Child care programs like KinderCare are great for educating and socializing children and provide a safe, stable environment for parents to leave their children for the day. Unfortunately, many of these programs are too expensive or just unavailable. In fact, according to Runzheimer International, the U.S. national average cost for full-time day care for a 2 year old child on weekdays is $611 a month. Large cities such as Boston and New York are most expensive, with average daycare costs of a little more than $1,000 a month, while smaller cities like San Antonio, TX, and Jackson, MS, have the lowest average prices, around $350-$400 a month. For a parent trying to work full time and go to school while still providing for their family, daycare is just too big of an expense. In some cases these students get lower grades and a lower GPA because they have to work and take care of their child. There are a few ways to solve the problem of finding affordable, reliable child care services for students. Solutions range from offering childcare services to students with financial aid to using empty or currently unused spaces on the premises or otherwise owned by the company or campus as the location for the daycare to be held to using recreational funding to back the necessary costs of food and start up fees.
