  When you were young, did you ever dream of having great adventures? Wouldn’t you have loved to leave your worries behind and explore the Mississippi River on a raft, just you and a good friend? If anyone ever wanted to know what this would be like, all they would need to do is grab them a copy of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. This book takes its readers on a great adventure, without them ever having to leave their home. For this reason alone, kids everywhere should have the opportunity to enjoy this classic tale. Not to mention the important lessons in friendship and right versus wrong. This book was banned because of racism, but during the time that it took place, this was how people acted. The book gives readers a view of American history, even if it isn’t a pleasing one.
  The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a story about a young boy who runs away from his alcoholic father, and befriends a runaway slave named Jim. Together, they meet many interesting characters, including frauds, feuding families, and new friends. They travel from town to town by the Mississippi River, on a raft they found, and they live of what they find, or sometimes ‘borrow’. Both Huck and Jim have a series of secret identities, because if either of them is found out they will be in deep trouble. Growing up, many boys and girls enjoy accompanying their fathers on camping trips, where they get to live on the land and find food for themselves. Everyday young children complain to their parents that they don’t want to take or bath, or eat their vegetables, or go to bed. Furthermore, kids wish that they could run away and not have to follow any more rules. Huckleberry Finns adventure fulfills their wildest dreams of living on their own, and all the fun they could have, without them ever having to leave their bedroom.
