A diverse campus adds to the college experience, prepares us for life after college, and makes us more sociable people. The way a college’s diverse campus adds to the college experience is simple, diversity on a campus allows us to get out of our comfort zone and affiliate with new people. Diversity also adds to the college experience in the ways it permits us to see and more fully understand other people’s hobbies, backgrounds, and religions we may have never encountered before. Therefore a diverse college campus lets us as students have the full college experience. An equally as essential benefit of a diverse campus is that it prepares us for our life outside of college after we graduate.
Avid because it would help me in preparing for college as well as helping me with skills I can use throughout my middle school and high school years. I would like to have a second chance to get it right because I don’t think I realized how much I needed this opportunity and how beneficial it is for me. I didn’t do everything exactly right when it came to school and the Avid program but I know that I can. The reason I like avid is because I enjoyed a lot of the activities like getting to play philosophical chairs. Another reason why I want to be in Avid is because you get to go on trips that are beneficial to life and future endevors.
It increases my ability to do something and gives me more opportunities. Completing college to get a degree will give me a strong sense of pride and self, having the degree will better my confidence and it will single me out from the ones who don’t own one. I am currently enrolled in online college and I am pushing myself to stay focused.
“I think people change a great deal between 18 and 22” – Dr. Neuhauser, president of St. Michael’s College. Not only could such courses open doors to this ‘self-discovery’, but also having a larger set of skills is going to make one a more knowledgeable, credible, and interesting person. Colleges want to prepare an individual for the ‘real world’ and are putting their best foot forward to help develop certain tools to help the students. If you are a person who can communicate well with writing and also orally, that alone will help you in any situation, not just a focused major. Also brought up in the article is being able to make a choice, or an argument and being able to defend your side of that argument.
Unlike high school, people are taught one specific area as their major. Ultimately, it would help to expand my knowledge as well to allow me to study what I really want. With increased knowledge, I can become more confident and my self-esteem would be much higher than before. As mentioned before, I choose to go to college for various reasons. One reason is to get a better job that requires more sophisacated skills.
I also like to learn, my second reason to continue my education. In the society we are living in right now a higher education is a necessity and it is an investment for a better future. Steinberg argues that college degrees are not necessary for many jobs and that some high school graduates are better prepared by being taught how to communicate and work efficiently in the work place. I agree with it
Knowledge is Key School can take a big toll on a person’s success in life. Success is earned by the determination given and the work done. While education being a main factor in the growth of our country, it’s important the students have the resources needed to excel. St. Louis administration could improve the lives of students by making the following changes, by allowing students to park on school grounds, providing tutors for day school subjects before or after classes and offering more courses such as arts. One way St. Louis administration could improve the lives of students is by providing them with parking.
This transition from high school to college has become a blessing and a burden. Anxiety and stress will be a difficult task to manage. Solutions that will surely help accomplish these goals will be to study, socialize, and a well-developed plan. As Antoine de Saint-Exupery once said, “A goal without a plan is just a wish”. I do not expect to be perfect, but drawing out my strength and motivation from previous learning experiences will help
