Amanda Funk-Hilton English II March 6th, 2012 Problems We Face today How many problems do people face today? Do they even realize they’re problems or are they just brushed off to the side and ignored. There are some things we cannot ignore. Social networking may not have been considered a problem when social networking sites just came out, but today it is becoming more and more evident that a lot of people are getting dangerously addicted to social networking sites. Weight is something that’s talked about all the time, everywhere. It is a clear problem. But do people notice their weight? Is weight affected by the use of social networking sites? Social networking and weight do have some kind of relationship. The things seen on the internet can affect how one looks at themselves. Spending too much time on these sites can also cause ‘weight fluctuations’. These two topics are significant to me because, I have and still am facing these problems. It’s very hard to realize or notice how much time you spend on the internet when you think its ok. Weight is also something I have been struggling with, mainly because of what I see online. Social networking sites can have a lot of influence if not careful. Let’s start with the addiction to social networking. In the last decade, there has been an ‘explosion’ of social networks like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Blogster, Faceparty, the list goes on. These networks help people stay connected in fun ways, as opposed to emails and simple phone calls. Social networks allow people to reveal more about themselves so they can find people who share the same interests as them. The technology has now become so advanced that accessing, for example Facebook, is a click away. Using a mobile phone device, anyone can check their network if they have internet connection on the cell phone device. It’s that easy! So are people addicted
