Individual Assignment – ActiveReplay and “Trace”
“Trace” is the most advanced measuring tool for action sports up to this point. ActiveReplay developed this unique and state of the art device in collaboration with AlpineReplay to make action sports like skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding measurable and comparable. Trace is just a small device, which you can easily put on your skate - or surfboard. It combines the most advanced inertial sensors and GPS technology to give you detailed information about every session you have. Trace can identify the tricks you did, how fast did you go and also how well are you landing your tricks. All the information’s Trace measures are pretty easy to share and compare via a special app on your mobile phone.
For a better understanding of Trace, the whole idea behind the product, the development, both the strengths and weaknesses I would like to talk about Traces “Business Model Canvas” in detail. I will not go through all the bullets of the canvas model, but instead focus on the key elements. Furthermore I will critically reflect the “Business Model” and try to give some creative and helpful recommendations to improve the model and also the product.
The most important aspect of Trace is its “Value Proposition”. Trace is the only device on the market which makes action sports comparable and measurable. Not only for one form of action-sport in fact, it is more a multi “platform” device. It works equally well on a surfboard, skateboard and snowboard. All this allows you to compete against athletes from all over the world and track your stats anywhere. You can easily see via a special app on your cell phone how good you are, how good your friends are and on which aspect you need to improve yourself.
