My academic experience over the last nine weeks has prepared me for college and pursuing my career goals by helping me to develop skills that will increase my chances for success in both of these areas. Throughout the course of these nine weeks I have both learned and developed new skills associated with retaining new information from instruction. This course has taught me to embrace diversity with greater enthusiasm than I have in the past. I have learned to take value in the merits involved with learning from different perspectives and varying opinions on the way to improving my own knowledge and insight. Although individuality has its good points, the potential for greater success, from either a collegiate or a professional standpoint, can be achieved by understanding that diversity brings valuable elements to any learning environment.…show more content…
College was always something that I believed I would always have time for but I came very close to possibly allowing the opportunity (and time I had available for it) to pass me up completely. At the onset of my academic pursuits, personal pride came secondary to my initial motivations for acquiring a degree which stemmed solely from the desire to improve my life situation. Although that has evolved into a lesser motivation recently when compared to obtaining my degree as a matter of pride, the value involved in my having a degree is still very important to me. At the end of the day, it’s all about improving one’s life situation. Ultimately, it is my desire to improve my marketability in the eyes of potential future employers and thereby my chances of landing a more financially profitable
