College Essay Draft 1 Question: what makes you a unique individual and how these unique qualities can benefit the University of Connecticut? I started attending Roger Williams University in Rhode Island immediately after I graduated high school and did not enjoy my college life there at that time. Because of this I came home and started attending Middlesex College and have had an exceptionally good experience. I’ve had many great professors that I’ve formed personal relationships with, I have been exposed to a diversity of people that I had not previously been exposed to, but most importantly I have really found myself as a student and a person. I would like to transfer to UConn because I have been a part time student
I still talk about the usual things with the same set of friends I have had since high school. My friends, like my family, hold no ill will towards me getting an education. In fact, they are all for it and ask me why I did not pursue an education earlier. I can say with a degree of certainty that if not for the support of my friends and family, I would not have been able to sustain my desire for a better
While I have had a pretty successful career thus far I know that not having a degree has held me back from reaching my full potential. I settled into a nice comfy position and tried to make myself believe that I did not need a degree. As time went on I developed a fear of returning to school and always found an excuse to not go. The week of graduation I was both happy and sad. I did not understand what my best friends meant by that feeling until that week. I had the sense of happiness because I worked very hard to get my degree and to be the only one in my family to graduate from college was a huge accomplishment. However, sadness played a big part in that too because I did not want to enter the real world and special people that helped raise me over the years was not here to share this important day with me, but I knew they were there in spirit. All these emotions came over me all the way up until I walked across the
When I first began my college search and how I would like to spend the next four or five years studying my goal was to move far away. I looked at various institutions, ranging from the Carolinas to Tennessee. The closest place I was really interested was two hours away from my house, The Ohio State University. When I told my parents about my college list they were very supportive; besides my father, who was not the biggest OSU fan, but he respected my decision anyway. My brother on the other hand, who was not an OSU fan either, was not that happy with my choices.
He was educated at home so he had no real idea of what life was like outside of his family which may of created an ignorance to what was going on around him. Furthermore he was rather aimless and lacking in motivation in early life so he wouldn't of cared what was going on much as he wouldn't of had the drive to do anything about it. However his upbringing did help a little as when he went to secondary school, a school called Gorton that was private and had a fee, he was motivated by his headmaster who inspired him and urged him to help people less fortunate than himself and enter public service. This was helpful as his headmaster was inspiring. He went to Harvard university which gave him his independence and taught him how to handle things on his own.

Eric Litterman Greg Winterhalter Capstone Paper Beginning my college education at SVC was not a difficult choice, but going off to college no where I had chosen was also a bit scary. The courses at SVC and the instructors made the transition from high school to college very easy for me. The Quest for Success class was at first a bit foreign to me as I had not taken a course like this ever before.
