A Winter Night, a Moonless Night

A winter night, moonless night I turned off the TV. I had been watching Cube 2 while waiting for the time pass. It was almost the time now. I started to dress up just hoping the sky would still be clear like it was, a few hours before. It was a cold night, maybe around -20 degrees but I did not mind, I quite like the cold. How it burns your lungs on every breath you take, how it pinches your cheeks when you walk fast and just how that makes me feel more alive than when I am sweating my ass off. So I tied the laces of my warm winter shoes and put my warm winter coat, gloves and a tuck. I was ready to go. When I stepped out-side the cold air hit me. I could feel the tip of my nose getting cold and I could feel that warm burning feel of cold, cold air in my lungs. I grabbed a stool from the porch with me and started to walk down the hill to the lake. It was so bright I did not even have to check out the sky. When people think about Lapland they think someplace dark, but it's not. Lapland rarely gets very dark, even during the polar night. The moon and stars provide quite a bit of light and with snow as white as marble, the star light gets reflected around and it's actually quite bright. It's only during autumn when it gets really dark, pitch black. When there is no snow reflecting the light, just wet forest eating up all the light, hungering for the last rays of light, like knowing the next ray of sunshine they will see is months away, waiting. I reached the lake and Continued to the middle of it. I'm looking for a place where I can that have a clear sight all around us, with no Obstacles at all. The middle of the lake is a safe bet. It's January so the lake has had about 4 months for freezing. I'm not very worried the ice breaking underneath me, it should be about half a meter thick if not more. And I know this lake, this place. I know there is nothing to worry about.
