Beowulf is one of the most famous monomyths and Campbell’s formula can be seen outlined in the novel. It is not always clear to figure out how the novel portrays every step, so creativity must be applied to make sense of the Heroic Journey of Beowulf. The easiest way to visualize all the steps is to apply it to the three separate battles that Beowulf is called to. Many of the steps of the Heroic Journey are clearly portrayed in Beowulf; however, the birth is a bit unclear. There is no direct passage in the story that describes the birth of our hero Beowulf.
We view through the film Paradise Road by Bruce Beresford, as the conflict of enduring a war has encompassed during a cultural misunderstanding. We view those who may not at times seem to stand up for themselves. Martin Luther King Jnr presents to us his honour and dignity when faced with conflict. Through the stories of these people we see that conflict can often breed further disagreement and suffering, as it may act in extraordinary ways. We are each led to articulate through responses in conflict, to realize who we truly are.
‘Tomorrow when the war began’ by John Marsden creates many ideas of courage and heroism. These ideas are expressed in many ways and create a whole new meaning to being courageous and being a hero. At the start of this book the main characters (Homer, Ellie, Lee, Fi, Robyn and Corrie) all wanted to be heroes and save their families and friends from the soldiers who invaded and kidnapped all of them, but for them to be heroes they needed to have the courage to face their fears and fight back against the men invading. But during this novel John Marsden creates new ideas about Heroism and courage. The idea of courage is represented throughout this book greatly in many situations that the main characters were put in.
Although those are virtually the same, you can go deeper into the tasks and detail his courage. When he fought Grendel, he did it with no armor and that shows tremendous courage. He constantly puts his life on the line for others, because he feels it is his duty to be a protector. The three categories of loyalty, strength, and courage are vividly illustrated in the epic poem, Beowulf. He represents what a hero was back then and always should be.
In order for him to succeed and fulfill his personal legend, he must remove doubt and fear from his mind and replace it with strength and persistence. Santiago’s journey is a lesson, reminding us that anything worth having requires great determination and perseverance and that one does not succeed

Beowulf Cause-Effect Essay The Anglo Saxons were known for their major influence on early English Literature. One good example of Anglo Saxon literature is Beowulf. Beowulf is an epic that tells the story of a warrior, Beowulf, who is on a quest to defeat various villains, such as Grendel. Although Beowulf and Grendel have many similar characteristics, Beowulf is portrayed as a hero while Grendel is portrayed as a villain. The author of Beowulf, who is unknown, makes the reader believe this by portraying each character in different ways.
There is a hero, there are the so called “villans”, monsters, magical creatures, very shadowy setting, and people that have to be saved. There are so many meanings of a hero. The three qualities of a hero I think would be loyalty, courage, and honor. Any type of event that anyone is considered a hero follows those traits. Beowulf would have been a hero in modern time as well, because he carried every one of those traits and pursued them very well. Some of the supernatural things would not have occurred in today’s world, but there are going to be resemblances and alterations in the two different times of the
