Organizational culture, organizational behavior, diversity, and communication are aspects of an organization which will create the environment of the company. It is important when searching for a job to understand the environment of the company in which applying. Working in a poor environment can cause employees to lose motivation and interest in their job duties and look for work elsewhere. A positive environment in the workplace can promote innovation and dedication to the company. This kind of environment can achieved with positive aspects of the four terms stated above. Organizational culture is a shared set of beliefs and values within an organization (Schermerhorn Jr., Hunt, & Osborn, 2008, p. 11). A lot of times the beliefs and values that are shared within the organization are associated with the overall goal of the company. At Heald College, the employees share the same belief that they are there to make a difference in each and every student’s life. The actions of the employees whether it is instructors or staff impact the lives of the students on a daily basis. Thinking about changing lives through education is an important belief, and allows for the employees to know that they are making a difference. If an employee does not share the same beliefs and values it becomes transparent and an individual may not stay with the company. Organizational behavior is the study of individuals and groups in organizations (Schermerhorn Jr., Hunt, & Osborn, 2008, p. 5). This concept is leading to workplaces understanding organizational dynamics, group behavior, and interpersonal processes with the main goal of improving the performance of the organization and the individuals who are employed there.
