Nya is an eleven year old girl from the Nuer tribe. Every morning she must walk four hours with a large empty plastic container to a pond of water, fill it up and walk back home with a container now filled with water. Salva is an eleven year old boy from the Dinka tribe who is suddenly torn from his family and forced to flee his country. Park successfully juxtaposes these lives and opens a window to the terrible story of Sudan.
