”A Gap of Sky” by Anna Hope A Gap of a Sky is written by Anna Hope, it’s written in 2008. The story is about a girl named Ellie, who’s a drug addict. She struggles in school, because she’ll rather live her life and experience things, than go to school. Ellie isn’t feeling well, and she starts to think what would happen if she was dead. In this story we are only introduced to the main character Ellie, Ellie is a young girl at the age of 19. She is studying at the University College London. She is not very popular at the University, because she doesn’t deliver her assignments in time. Ellie have to write an essay to the next morning, or else they will reconsider her place on the course. Ellie isn’t feeling well because she was very intoxicated, and under the influence of both coke and K, the night before. Ellie’s language is very filthy - she curses a lot. Furthermore isn’t she a responsible person, because she have brought herself in a situation, where she may get kicked out of her school. On the contrary she is very curious and wants to live her life. The language of the story is quiet simple, the sentences aren’t long and the writer is listing a lot of words, because she have to describe how Ellie feels. Ellie’s feelings are mostly negative so her feelings are described with a lot of negative words. Example: “Ellie’s head is throbbing and her skull feels as though it might split open and she really feels as though she might die. And what will happen if she dies? In the lighted dark of the street, in the bustle, Ellie feels afraid. Nasty, Brutish and short say the line in Ellie’s head” Elli has a childes disposition. She has not outgrown her childish manners and often acts immaturely; giggling like a child whenever she is aware of something naughty or in her mind funny. She is like a child who wants to dance on the top of the world. She wants to dance
