When students see others doing this it quickly reminds those who may have forgot that they too need to place their homework in the basket. Mr. Collet is then able to quickly see who has turned in homework and who has not. He also has provided the opportunity to each parent to purchase a daily planner; the planner allows the student to write down daily homework assignments for each class period and parents may follow up by looking at the planner nightly to ensure that the work is getting completed. Mr. Collet also allows for the students to participate in deciding what homework assignments are going to be assigned. Students get to give the opinion on what is best for them to learn from by helping Mr. Collet collectively agree upon what material they will have homework on.

I am working with their science, language arts and math teachers. All the other teachers are also discussing Native Americans in their classes. Today's lesson is about the Navajo Indians. The students will be conducting research in a small group setting on some basic facts about the Navajo Indians and presenting their findings to the class when they are done.
Next, the teacher will hand out the math notes, so the students can follow along. Having math notes that students can keep in a binder and refer back to is real helpful in math. Next the teacher will ask the students to think about how many problems are on their normal math test, this number will be the bottom of the fraction. Then the teacher will ask the students for a number to put in the numerator place. Now that we have a fraction the teacher will show them how to find the percent by making an equivalent fraction.

I observed him throughout the day and within the first ten minutes of the class it was obvious that Mrs. Saenz, his Math teacher had a history with this student’s behavior. I observed how the teacher was giving them instructions for their first lesson. She asked the children if they had any questions in regards to the lesson. John and several other children raised their hands. She answered a few questions from several students and stated that everyone should know what they are doing and to start on their assignment.
The paraprofessional and special education teacher send examples of what the students are learning. Therefore, they can help the students with homework. Cathy Pham Mrs. Jaspard AP English Lang/Comp 29 December 2012 Philosophies of Transcendentalism In the movie Dead Poets Society, the philosophies of transcendentalism are explained in depth, though in a more interesting way. Near the beginning of the movie, where several orthodox methods of teaching are shown, tradition was expressed. The typical class introductions, the way the lessons are delivered, and the assigning of homework are all done in a similar fashion. That is, until the boys sat through a class taught by Mr. Keating, Welton’s new English teacher. His unorthodox methods not only taught the boys to think for themselves, but they also awoke the boys’ inner desires and dreams.
Once, Junior’s teacher gave the class a spelling test but sat Junior aside and gave him a test designed for junior high students. Junior spelled every word correct but the teacher crumpled his paper up and made him eat it (Alexie par. 12). “You’ll learn respect,” she said (Alexie par. 13).

During the second half of the school year, fourth graders are asked to write a simple research paper. Part of the learning is to introduce the students to the library resource (EBSCO) that is a search engine similar to an online catalog. To help students learn to evaluate appropriate resources I give the students a list of ten different magazines that they must evaluate.
