A Day at the Fair

I had waited all week for this. I was ten years old and the fair had finally arrived in town. My mom agreed to take me if I made good grades, and of course I made sure that I did. Once we arrived, I made a beeline to the entrance, anxiously awaiting my mom to catch up with me. When my mom paid for the tickets, we walked inside and I stood in amazement at all the lights from the rides. I had no idea what I wanted to do first. “Don’t wander off. We don’t need you getting lost,” my mom said. “All right,” I agreed, still focused on what I wanted to do first. I finally decided that I would try my luck at the carnival games. I gave a brief overlook to each of the booths, trying to decide which one had the best prizes. I finally settled my eyes on a basketball that was at the dart-balloon booth. Somehow I managed to get lucky and won it on my first try. After several tries at a few of the other booths, it was clear that I wasn’t going to have the same luck. So I decided to call it quits on the booths. “Let’s go find something to eat,” my mom said. I eagerly agreed, and we made our way to the food area. This was the first time I had ever had funnel cake, and it immediately became one of my favorite foods. On our way out of the food area my mom bought me some cotton candy to snack on later. Now we made our way to the rides. The first ride I saw was the ferris wheel towering over the rest. So that where I headed to, however, when I got closer I saw that the line for it was extremely long. So I decide to try some of the other rides first in hopes that after I had, the line would go down. The bumper cars were right next to the ferris wheel, so that was where I headed. Ten minutes later, and I was done at the bumper cars. By that time the line to the ferris wheel had gone down significantly. Within minutes I was sitting atop the ferris wheel. I
