Cold Sassy Tree By Olive Ann burns The book Cold Sassy Tree, by Olive Ann Burns, takes place in Cold Sassy, Georgia. The protagonists are Rucker Blackslee and a young man that goes by the name of Will Tweedy. Rucker Blakeslee and his new bride, Miss Love Simpson, attempt to live happily and ignore the town's and the Blackslee family's general condemnation of their union. Will struggles to grow up and maintain his integrity with all the drama that is happening. This novel is about an old man growing young because after his wife Mattie Lou Blakeslee passed away he decided to move on and make Miss Love Simpson his new bride.
Matt now has a son, a good wife, and an ordinary life; he still has a good family life without going to university. In contrast with Kate, although she has good education and job, she doesn’t have her own family and in fact, she says, “I had never thought I would really love anyone.” (89) From another perspective, she seems to be the one that is going to have a sad life. Manette to talk about his first years in the prison was when Lucie and him were sitting underneath the plane-tree and were talking about if she should be happy that she is getting married or sad because she will not be able to enjoy the amount of time she spends now with her father. Diaz and his novia as he describes have booked a flight and Diaz is very excited to go. Diaz has high expectations for the trip .He asks his novia also known as girlfriend in Spanish to go with him and he is covering all expenses It all starts bad when his ex.
Finally she did but now she regrets that she didn’t move on because she put her family in a hard position. When she first arrived at elsewhere she wanted to kill herself by crashing into a retaining wall using a car, but fortunately in elsewhere you can’t kill yourself because their age will rewind and she will get younger so she can’t kill herself even if she tries to. “Liz drives the car in to the exit’s concrete retaining wall” (Zevin 53) but nothing happens to then or the car. It makes her frustrated, because she had many things she finally can and want to do when she turns 16, but she died a few months before she turned 16 and this is something really hard for Liz to forget but she has to because she can’t go back and she has to move on. Later on she remembers that she still has a sweater to give her dad so she makes another trip to the well again and this time she finally dived into the ocean but this has caused her and her family more trouble.
